I could have gone to school with other arab descendants in one of the only two arab schools of Buenos Aires, but my parents, coming from an interreligious family, chose to raise me agnostic (a choice I will be forever grateful for). They also, deep down, just wanted me to grow up as a "normal" kid.

I would never be normal. I never quite fitted in. I got called all kinds of insults for things that I didn't even have the presence of mind to fully understand. Getting called a terrorist, how do you as a parent begin to explain terrorism to your kid? Or why they get called such things in the first place. "Kids are not terrorists" is an axiom everyone lives by these days, but the parents of my schoolmates weren't really that pressed about it back then. They had their own apprehension.

When I grew up, between hormonal teenagers, the harassment grew much stronger and even turned sexual. As it tends to do.

This could paint your picture of Argentina, I suppose, if you really wanted it too, but there are kids who lived a childhood like mine all over westernized countries.

Even going back four years, on this platform, if you called out things such as the blatant zionist rhetoric of The Last Of Us, you'd get pointed out as antisemitic. Most of you, if you were solemnly honest, would not have assessed the statement that Israel is an ethnostate that has no business existing as anything other than blatant antisemitism back then.

So I find it really shitty that those of you who didn't know shit about Palestine four years ago, and don't know shit about Argentina today besides what twitter tells you, should get to tell me what my country is and what it represents, as if I hadn't these three years for the first time in my life been listened to and understood by my compatriots.
