I do think some part of this disproportionate anger we're seeing directed at south american countries stems a bit from a failure to admit that a country can be exploited while still experiencing the same flaws that first world countries experience. That being exploited doesn't make you noble and incapable of evil. There's racism in exploited countries. There's a ton of fascism in exploited countries (it helps the exploitation run smoothly). We have the same societal flaws that exist in the first world, they're just obscured by the fact that the minimum wage is currently around $250 dollars. And I'm not trying to say that having racism and fascism in any country is okay, but we should maybe question why we think global south countries have a moral obligation of being socially flawless (according to first world standards of what is and isn't socially acceptable at that) to deserve some fucking dignity. Exploitation is wrong, full stop.

We're also in the unique position to be able to experience the same type of rationalization that allowed for exploitation and interventionism to happen in arab countries for so long with nobody batting an eye. "But they're homophobic" "They're misogynists" "They're jihadists" are just rationalizations to justify the unjustifiable.

And I mean, I'm reticent to concede the point that those flaws are entirely our fault, considering that every time south american countries get close to socialism and progress the CIA intervenes, tortures and kills our activists, and puts on fascist leaders. Sure, some people already agreed with the last dictatorship, but they killed everyone who disagreed and was motivating change. If they're not even giving us a chance to get better I resent the implication that that means they should get to exploit us even harder

Something to keep in mind…. building muscle is so hard people compete to see who can do it best.
