i made a goddamn post about him and jacob being often mischaracterized bc i am SICK of it

if you write those fics knowing that it’s ooc, then sure go off, ik how difficult writing shit can be and im sure as hell not gonna dictate someone elses fic. But if you write it thinking that driver is a stalker… then what the fuck dude?

he is not a stalker. He is a people watcher. He grew up in a setting that made noticing things important.

he was forced to help his dad with robberies as a kid (before he his his growth spurt), to not get caught, you need to be on the look out for cops or people who would call the cops or any sort of danger

his second rule for dealing with his mother was ‘always watch’, because some moments she would be happy, and then her emotions would change in the blink of an eye.

he learned the importance of guns and different ways to fight from his friends and from movie sets he has worked on

he watches and then he implements it into his life because that was how he was taught to survive as a kid. He felt like he didn’t have anyone in his corner, so he learned how to live by himself without causing any ripples.

I have no idea how people can read a character so fucking wrong. Even with movie-only fans, Driver is so obviously careful of Irene’s (and Benicio’s) boundaries.

He offers information about himself and then is kind of floored when Irene shows up to his garage—his place of work—to get her car worked on. A stalker wouldn’t be surprised. A stalker would likely encourage this kind of ‘chance meeting’ behavior.

Driver isn’t a creep!! He’s not a fucking creep!! Did everyone fucking miss the moment where he asks Irene and Benicio if they wanna go see something cool?! It’s so obvious that, if they’d said no, he would have just taken them home.

All of that to say: DRIVER KNOWS WHICH LINES NOT TO CROSS
