In the depth of shadow Venturing inside yourself… I am not speaking of the blood, bones and organs Rather summoning the courage to delve beneath Pulling back your sinew Scooping aside your intestines Until in the depth of your bowel You find it The part of you that is dark Hidden Forbidden Even to yourself A part Bound tightly With past hurts Disappointments Demons some of which have been inflicted on you Others you have fashioned yourself It takes immense courage Extreme fortitude To loosen those shackles To peer with the dark and murky depths of one’s being Reaching deep within And grasping Confronting all those words and actions Which have kept you small Beyond the reach of yourself Freedom requires sacrifice Determination And rage A rage one has carried so long that it has crystallised Morphed into a hardness A veneer A protection From the shadows within.

The Only Space Time held no meaning Nothing existed beyond that space The present was all that mattered Past hurts were forgotten Future promises were set aside. In the soft orbit of your arms, The world I knew simply fell away, Leaving only the truth of us behind. Every touch was a quiet revelation, A map drawn by my flesh caressing yours. I never heard her laughter,
never traced the rhythm of her footsteps.
I don’t know if she ever knew I existed—

a family secret tucked between years. A part of my heart died today—
the part that longed for an older sister,
someone to look up to,
to study,
to admire.
Someone to whisper lessons about boys,
to show me how to paint my face with confidence,
to hold me when the world grew too heavy. How do you mourn someone who lived outside your memories?
How do you enter a family stitched together with silence
when you, yourself,
are one of its biggest secrets?

You Hold Me You hold me—
your arms wrap around me,
strong, and steady—
a quiet haven where I can breathe. Your hands,
they move gently through my hair,
each stroke a quiet promise,
each touch a reminder:
I’m not alone. Your care—
it drapes over me like a soft blanket,
pulls me closer,
warms the parts of me
that never thought they could be warm. Your wisdom,
so calm, so sure,
it lifts my eyes
beyond the now—

The Observer Sitting on the periphery of my life I watch people come and go Carrying out their daily business A part yet separate The disconnect felt in my body I know that I belong to that scene That I am embedded in the fabric of the environment Yet I gaze at buildings At people As though they are foreign As though I have no understanding of their challenges No inkling of their dreams I have been swept up by a wind created in my imagination Supplanted in a place Comfortable Yet distant Foreign Yet known I know I only need to speak To break the spell To enter the scene in front of me Yet I choose Consciously To remain silent.

What does it mean To love To understand To forgive To hope To dream To belong To be heard To be held To be loved Everything It means everything

Young Love

As I cross over from one year to the next I shed my old skin Shake off the dust of disappointment and failed expectations I cry out the last few tears of misery Letting them fall where they may I have no interest in where they land. For I have risen Cleansed the aroma of mothballs from my skin Awakened my soul Opened my eyes and my heart to possibility To the call and beauty of nature To the caring and nurture of friendship. That is not to say I will not face challenges in my journey That is not to be so presumptuous to assume that sadness had forsaken me But I have the surety of knowing who I am That no matter what befalls me I am loved.
