The Reunion Gently, ever so gently, the breeze brushes away the granular sand, carefully uncovering my long-buried soul. Moments of hope and love are revealed — rashly buried with my girlhood memories. Those black, dark tormentors, imprisoned in my body, in a deep corner, neglected, long forgotten, erased. I enter the room hesitantly scanning unfamiliar faces. Kind eyes look at me and draw me in. A warmth slowly penetrates my cold soul, awakening what was long forgotten Reminding me I am worthy of friendship, deserving to be loved. I walk into that love, my arms outstretched, seeing myself through the eyes of others rather than my own, which radiate only fear and shame. I wrap my arms around my long-lost friends and am overwhelmed with love and belonging.
