"Calculations and Joy" 48x48 Oil enamel and Plasti-dip on wood From the "Seven Magnets, Explained" show on display until late December at the Industrial Arts Brewery at the Garner Arts Center. - The best part about recording an album is when you're done with all your songs and have time to experiment with brand new ideas. It felt like this when I painted this piece, which was achieved by coating an existing painting with plasti-dip ( a hardware store clearance purchase ) and then peeling away at it. I have blisters on all my fingers from the peeling. To celebrate the Full Buck Moon of July, I gathered some free spirits to try a new experiment: ecstatic collaborative painting! We traded paints and oil crayons and had only the length of each song to stay on our canvas, before travelling in a clockwise circle to the next. - Each "canvas" was actually a piece of a wooden shipping container with old tablecloths stretched over them, primed with latex housepaint. I found the pieces in the trash and got the paint for pennies in the discount section at the hardware store.
