New painting photo dump! Well, the photos are new, the paintings are not. I did most of these about two years ago. If anyone is curious, one of my big inspirations is an artist by the name of Olayami Dabls. He's an artist famous for the Dabls Mbad African Bead Museum. A lot of his artwork uses bright colors and mixed materials. He creates art as a form of cultural healing, which is something that I can really relate to. I sometimes have a hard time putting my feelings into words and I use my art as a way of communicating pain and healing from it; whether it's from personal trauma of my life or the societal trauma of being trans. I try to use symbols that are universal so that no matter who you are, you can take something away from it. I wanted to bring up one of my inspirations because I'm proud of these pieces, but I'm also thankful for this style of expression that I've learned from artists like Dabls.
