In the coming weeks. Professor Galtara Basch will be leading an expedition of researchers and their protectors to the Far East. On the Blue Sun, retrofitted Garlean airship captained by Castor Wilde, the expedition will set to the skies towards Kugane from Limsa Lominsa. From Kugane, the expedition will be able to work its way to Othard, to locations like Yanxia, The Azim Steppe and the Ruby Sea. The Violet Mage wishes to offer the opportunity for other scholars to join her. Any field of study can benefit from this expedition, and there is gil to be made for anyone who wishes to protect the researchers. Galtara has secured transport, she’s secured a Doman contact to help her plan the expedition, now she needs other scholars, protectors and funding.

THE BRAINS

Are you a researcher in any field that could benefit from an expedition to the Far East? Perhaps you are an Allagan researcher who wishes to study the relics left behind in the Burn, or the odd vestiges left behind in the Azim Steppe? Perhaps you study geography or history? Perhaps you research monsters, and wish to find races that can only be found on the Othardian continent! Are you an aetherologist or calamatologist who could perhaps gain from studying in the Far East? Truly, the possibilities are endless. Contact Professor Galtara for an interview and if your field of interest can be attached to our expedition, so be it.

THE BRAWN

Though most of the research team may very well be battle capable, having additional protection is needed. The dangers found on the continent may need permanent solutions, and so the expedition will find itself in need of individuals who can fight to protect the researchers and themselves.Contact Galtara Basch for an interview. It is to be noted that we are looking for a variety of talents and combat styles. We will not be accepting twenty gunblade wielding mercenaries. A magic specialist, a healing specialist, a bruiser or two are all needed as well. So do not let that stop you. If you can fight, or have skills that will help in protecting the expedition, please come for an interview!

THE GIL

The expedition will need funding, and Galtara is looking to petition wealthy individuals and institutions for just that. This would be the reverse of the other interviews. Instead of people coming to Galtara, my character can come to yours to ask for funding. Perhaps becoming a patron of academia is enough for you, the publicity from the journals published from this expedition is likely to shower you in fame. Perhaps you will have your own price. There can be all manners of politics and storyline coming simply from funding.

To not get too chaotic, the actual expedition should not have twenty people. That is why there will be an interview process. The goal is to build a team for a long term storyline. Our characters will go on a few adventures while in Othard, so it’s paramount that we all fit together. You’ll be free to use a “flexible” timeline, so that you can be part of the expedition, all the while continuing your RPs back in Eorzea or wherever else. The first RP event will be about the flight to Kugane, because things can never go smoothly when Galtara flies somewhere. From there, there will be smaller RPs among all those who’ve crossed over. Galtara will expect some to join her in her own researcher, and will gladly help out the other researchers in their endeavours, while their protectors come along.

Feel free to have your own reasons for joining the expedition. Perhaps you’re upfront about them, or perhaps you’re keeping them to yourself. BRING ME ADVENTURE, BRING ME ACTION, BRING ME DRAMA MAMA!

He actually pays those under his employ fairly well from what I can gather considering the kind of loyalty they seem to have for Lolorito. Money is a powerful motivator.

The thing Lolorito cares about above his own wealth, is Ul’dah.

He still has standards as to what he will and will not do for profit.

Step back and try and fit the Scions into real-world politics. (I’ll be using the US as an example because that’s what I’m most familiar with) The Scions of the Seventh Dawn are this strange combination think tank, lobby, and paramilitary organization with absolutely no oversight.  Not only that but they’re an organization that contains the worlds most potent weapon of mass destruction, the Warrior of Light.  A weapon that while nominally a member of one of the grand companies is really taking all of their actual orders from the Scions.  

Oversight is a HUGH concern in any kind of ruling body. Why is it so scary that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have top-secret security clearances? Because there is no oversight. They are only beholden to Trump and even that is tenuous at best because again there’s no means of oversight. Why are the laws about lobbying always so contentious? Because it determines who does and does not have oversight. 

So what is Lolorito hoping to gain from the bloody banquet? Predictability. 

He doesn’t want the scions or the WoL dead. Killing the people who are best equipped to handle you’re number one recurring national security threat (Primals) is a bad idea. He wants to know what the fuck they are doing and direct that in ways he feels best for his nation. 

At the time he probably wasn’t worried when the Scions and WoL escaped. Ishgard probably didn’t register as a possibility. Up to that point, all interaction with Ishgard was strictly quid pro quo. Haurchefant wouldn’t have been a big enough political player for the international scene to notice. So he doesn’t expect Ishgard to be an option for the fugitives. He most likely assumes that they’ll go to one of the other city-states, and even if he can’t get them extradited to Ul’dah they won’t be wandering around like an unexploded political land mine. 

However, that backfires on him when the WoL DOES get sanctuary in Ishgard. Suddenly that free agent weapon of mass destruction has a lot of political and emotional reasons to firmly plant themselves in a political camp, a potentially hostile political camp. And they don’t have much reason to trust the alliance as a whole, so if they got a bad case of the primals come up, they’re tried and true remedy may not answer the call. 

So the reason that Lolorito gives half of his wealth to the sultanate? The reason Hancock has orders to pretty much dress up like a seal and perform on demand? Lolorito is trying to make up for ground he lost to the bloody banquet. The WoL can topple governments, and he’d REALLY REALLY like to make sure that Ul’dah doesn’t come up on that list. Especially now when it can be presumed the WoL has a direct link to the General of the most effective military machine in Eorzea in Aymeric.

DISTINGUISHING MARKS: She lacks any markings that assign her to a miqo’te clan, but she does possess a black tear-drop-like tattoo on her forehead. Medic: Very straightforward - he’s obviously a healer with that big ol’ staff strapped to his back. He also used to tutor aspiring conjurers at Stillglade Fane and occasionally returns to the Shroud to run favors for his family and E-Sumi-Yan.

Obviously a Foreigner: Even in the blistering heat of Thanalan, Sun doesn’t take off his scarf or shed his jacket. Sometimes he runs jobs all the way to the Far East, and pretty much bulls through the language barrier with sheer tenacity and excessive charades. Sure, he might be dressed for Ishgard, but he definitely isn’t culturally groomed for any fancy House parties. If he’s committing a social faux pas, be a dear and let him know! Or if you’re fluent in the language, you could teach Sun a word or two. He’d certainly appreciate it!

Antagonist/Rival/FOIL: Sun is almost obnoxiously optimistic with a straight-arrow moral compass that he is quite often both reckless and loud about. An idealist at heart, he tends to look for the best in people even if it gets him bitten - but if that happens, don’t expect him to curl up and start crying in fetal position; he most certainly bites back. I’d certainly be interested in exploring this aspect of his character with someone who doesn’t mind butting heads with him!

Hi everyone! First off, thanks for taking the time to read this! Secondly, I would like to make clear that although Sun is a warm-hearted and generally kind character, he can be very blunt and stubborn at times. I firmly draw the line between IC and OOC, and would ask that you extend the same courtesy during interactions. If Sun has any conflict with your character or vice versa, please do not take it personally.

That said, I have a strong preference for paragraph and plot-based RPs with some direction. If you don’t have any in mind, I’d be happy to brainstorm ideas with you! I prefer Discord or GDocs RP or even Tumblr RP, as my working hours are unpredictable and those methods provide a measure of flexibility. 

I WILL PLAY: most forms of RP, from serious darker themes to lighthearted fluff and humor. Plots are the best! Whether you want to involve him in your plot or vice versa, let’s talk about it!! Relationship development (whether platonic or romantic) is welcome and encouraged, but MUST make sense and develop organically. Just a disclaimer though, if you’re looking to attempt to romance him, expect the slowest burn of all slow burns. I’m talking ‘try to light some wet charcoal, but first you have to find the match in the lake’ slow burn. This man is seriously dense af; he’s oblivious when it comes to romantic or sexual suggestions unless it has pretty much been directly slapped in his face. And even then he will assume you’re joking. 

ASK ABOUT: long-term or permanent injury, scarring, long-term captivity or imprisonment, significant mental tampering, or anything that might dramatically change his character.

I WON’T PLAY: permanent character death, permanent crippling, anything that would leave him unable to function independently. Also, should be kinda obvious, but please do not interact if you’re only looking to ERP.
