is the OU Kosher certificate symbol. A food manufacturer pays to have a private inspector come and check the production standards of a given company to confirm they do, in fact, follow kosher. Part of Jewish law requires (and I'm paraphrasing here) that meat be butchered humanely, with a prayer, and in a clean environment. One of the main concerns with food safety when the FDA isn't doing inspections revolves around meat plants. Historically they're dangerous, unhygienic, and cut corners. In the 1920's when the FDA wasn't really a thing yet, and food safety was a matter of checking for chemical purity and not stopping people from putting sawdust in food, non-Jewish people used kosher as a way to determine if they could trust certain industrial food products. I wrote a paper about this recently and I'll have to dig up the citations later, but I remember at one point the majority of OUs customer base was non-Jewish up until the like 60s when the FDA sued for greater good and drug powers.

Tldr; there's a long history of non-jewish Americans relying on kosher labels to inform them of food safety in the US, it's not (usually) anti-Semitic exoticism.
