Logan for the ask game? đź‘€
First impression: No memories of my original first impression of him :( But my first impression while starting my rewatch was that he was a delightful little guy. Sort of like a pathetic little frightened animal (affectionate).
Impression now: Too much swag. Love him dearly, but he's changed so much!
Favorite moment: Most of my favorite Logan moments (so far) are little ones, like in BTLove Song where he's doing his British accent and says, "Poor ol' chap. He's in a bit of a sticky wicket," which I found hysterical back in the day because I thought he had made up some gibberish on the spot. Turns out, it's a real saying! I also love his recurring puppet show thing in BTSingle and the slow unraveling he experiences in BTSecret.
Idea for a story: Well, there's the Kendall and Logan-centered fic I had mentioned I was working on in the last ask. Also, the part of my younger self that grew up when the OG fandom literally had a "Let's Torture Logan Club" sort of wants to explore something angsty, maybe relating to the original headcanons people had of him having a not-so-great home life and being raised largely in the Knight household.
Unpopular opinion: I don't love Logan and Camille together. They're cute sometimes, but idk. I'm not sure they really mesh. Maybe I'll feel different as the series goes on.
Favorite relationship: Really big fan of his friendship with Kendall. I love their dynamic.
Favorite headcanon: I have headcanons for him, but they're not particularly interesting, I don't think. Maybe the one about him being an insomniac? Or the one where he constantly attempts to turn Kendall into a book-lover despite Kendall having no interest in reading any of the long, boring novels Logan's so fond of.
Thanks for the ask!
Remember how I had said I've been keeping a running tally of how many plaid shirts Kendall wears? Thought I should give you all an update since I've finished season 2.
I'm lumping BTMovie into season 2, btw, since I feel it fits in there more than season 3. With that in mind, we've had 47 episodes so far in the series.
Kendall Knight has worn 45 unique plaid shirts in these two seasons. He's repeated shirts only 5 different times. I cannot imagine what the number will be at by the end of the series. Will probably put together a collage or something, since I've been collecting screenshots of every shirt and categorizing them by color. (I am very normal)
Oh, and he gives 17 pep talks in season 2. Up from 15 in season 1.
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
For the character ask game: Kendall
First impression: Ok, so I do actually remember my first impression of Kendall, mainly because it wasn't a positive one. I remember seeing the commercials for BTR constantly in the weeks before it premiered, and before the pilot even aired, I was SO SICK of seeing this goofy-looking guy say "I love singing with you guys!" Like...I was actively very annoyed by Kendall before even knowing who he was and wanted his face off my TV. I had zero intention of ever watching the show (thought it looked lame) and only ended up seeing it because my sister and I were bored out of our minds, and there was nothing better on TV.
Impression now: Favorite guy. Love him to pieces. 10/10 character. So sorry my younger self was mean to him.
Favorite moment: I feel like I have to say the iconic angry "Girl to my Heart" performance, right? I also like the scenes in BTFever when he finds a way to get around Bitters' sign by the pool using The Power of Punctuation, and when he cuts to the chase with James and walks up to him like, "James, you're orange, and you look like a freak."
Idea for a story: I have a couple! Been sitting on some Kendall-centered fics for months and months. Got one planned where he rallies the other guys, and they all ditch school (pre-series), and another where he sneaks into Rocque Records at night to steal back something Gustavo had confiscated. Also currently putting finishing touches on one that focuses mostly on him and Logan, and I'm really liking how it's turning out.
Unpopular opinion: This is proving to be the hardest question for me of this ask game. I just don't have unpopular opinions of anyone lol.
Favorite relationship: I'm a sucker for siblings in media, so probably his relationship with Katie. I wish they had focused in on that more.
Favorite headcanon: Gonna have to go with my "Kendall is autistic" headcanon, because it's not one I've ever seen anyone else have for him, but I believe a case can be made for him being on the spectrum.
Thanks for the ask!

quick kendall and katie sketch
they missed the bus home and now they gotta walk
i think about pre-band btr ... a normal amount... especially kendall...
For the character ask game, would you mind Kelly? Thank you!
Oooh, interesting! I don't talk about Kelly nearly enough.
First impression: Once again, can't recall my original first impression, but my second first impression upon starting my rewatch was, "Yesss, she's every bit as awesome as I remember."
Impression now: Kelly is wonderful, one of my favorite characters in the show, and she deserved much more screen time and to have her character fleshed out more.
Favorite moment: I like the way she protects Carlos and stands up to Gustavo in BTGirlfriends.
Idea for a story: I always love when she gets significant screentime paired with one or more of the boys (her and Carlos in BTJobs and her and Kendall in BTGuru for example) so it'd be fun to explore a story that includes her and highlights a deeper side of the relationship she has with them.
Unpopular opinion: Like with Jo, I don't have any idea of opinions on Kelly others have to be able to pinpoint an unpopular one.
Favorite relationship: I mean. Her relationship with Gustavo is the obvious choice, right? So fascinated by their history and would love to know how they met, their initial reactions to each other, how they grew in their dynamic, what they talk about outside of music-related topics, etc.
Favorite headcanon: I don't have any Kelly headcanons! Let me whip one up real quick...
Gustavo spends most holidays with Kelly and her family. He whines and complains and acts like it's the last thing he wants to do, but she knows he not only enjoys it but needs it. She has a big, close-knit family that gets together for any and every occasion, and she always invites Gustavo to whatever event they're hosting.
Thanks for the ask!
For your character asking game: I'm curious on your thoughts on Jo Taylor (I've also considered Lucy but you'll get more on her when you're reviewing S3)
First impression: The first impression for this ask game is hard! I really have no idea what younger me's first impression was of Jo, but I do recall liking her a lot during the show's original run, so I'm gonna say it was a positive one. Maybe I should do my first impressions of characters since starting my rewatch? Because in that case, I was happy to start getting to episodes with her, and was looking forward to revisiting her dynamic with Kendall and eventually comparing it to the one he has with Lucy.
Impression now: I do really like Jo. She's sweet, and I liked her and Kendall together. HOWEVER! I don't necessarily believe she and Kendall were all that good for each other when it comes down to it. Jo jumped straight to crazed jealousy a little too often (so did Kendall).
Favorite moment: I love the scene in BTBreakUp where they're discussing what Jo wants to do on her last day in LA, and then it cuts to her and Kendall lying on the blanket. So, so sweet.
Idea for a story: Never considered working her into a story, so I got nothing for this one.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I know enough about opinions others have on her in general to be able to tell if an opinion I have is an unpopular one lol.
Favorite relationship: Kendall, obvs
Favorite headcanon: This isn't so much regarding her directly, but rather her father. So, BTBreakup comes right after BTProm, right? And Jo's dad isn't thrilled with Kendall in that ep because he kept her out past curfew and then helped her sneak out, right? And he's ex-marine and was in the CIA. Stay with me: what if Jo's father somehow made sure that Jo got the Chauncey Jackson part so that she would be away for an extended time from that trouble-making boyfriend of hers? Not to say that Jo isn't talented enough to have won the part through her own merits. Just...what if he made sure the right people were spoken to so that it was locked in?
It's a very silly headcanon, but it's fun to imagine that Mr. Taylor made the "Kendall problem" disappear by making sure his daughter got a part that sent her off New Zealand for 3 years.
Thanks for the ask!!
look! the moonlight shows us for what we really are. we are not among the living, and so we cannot die — but neither are we dead.
Big Time Rush Season 2, Episode 27: “Big Time Move"
And here we are at the end of season 2!
Highlights: Things aren't all sunshine and roses between the boys. Kendall to the rescue!!

KICK THE CAN!
Let’s play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
Guys, am I missing something? Because I keep seeing fanon insisting that Nightwing is a ball of rage and implying that you don't really know cannon if you don't know that Nightwing is the angriest member of the batfamily. But I started doing deep dives into the examples I saw of his supposed rage moments, because I hadn't seen that version of him in cannon, and so far, I'm still not seeing it.
Like Grayson trying to kill Zucco? Never happened as far as I can tell, and his time as Robin wasn’t about vengeance, almost every version of his backstory I could find stops to specify that he’s either becoming or continuing past the first case as Robin to help people, it’s compassion and a desire to make sure no one else has to go through what he did, along with a healing moment for him. (he even tries to save his parent's murderers in multiple versions)
His fight with Donna during NTT 1984 #19? He was being brainwashed by Brother Blood, they even say he wouldn’t have been lashing out had he not been brainwashed multiple times during the arc and treat it as weird that he’s acting that way. (brainwashing revealed in New Teen Titans 1984 #22)
Killing the Joker in Joker's Last Laugh? Yet again brainwashing. There was a villain named Rancor whose power is amplifying emotions until they’re uncontrollable, who was in prison for amplifying people’s rage until they committed murders they wouldn't have otherwise committed, who commented about amplifying Nightwing’s rage at the start of the fight, and Nightwing commented after that he didn’t know what happened he just suddenly lost control. (full rundown on Rancor and his powers found in Joker: Last Laugh Secret Files and Origins 2001)
I am still working on a full deep dive of Outsiders because there’s so much context, but that’s the important thing which I think gets missed a lot, the context. It is a direct follow up to Young Justice Graduation day (Donna’s Death and him getting trauma around leadership) and it’s linked to both the Devin Grayson run and Under the Red Hood, so yeah he’s lashing out, because he’s well past any reasonable human breaking point, this is him actively self-destructing, not his baseline personality. (Yes, it is a part of his character but in like the same sense the one-time Bruce attempted murder after Jason's death is, like no being murderous isn't normal for his character it's him at his all-time low)
I know I'm way too far down this rabbit hole with my conspiracy board out studying Nightwing's emotional responses, but I'm starting to feel like this is a case of the fandom gaslighting itself, because this dude is shockingly levelheaded the majority of the time. He does get mad at reasonable moments, where it makes sense to be mad as a human, but not like the fandom describes. If I am missing something, please tell me about it, I have been having fun doing these deep dives and learning about the character, so I'd be happy to have more moments to look into, and I know I haven't read all the older comics, though I am working on it (Modern Nightwing was my starting point so who knows maybe I'm bias and missing something, if so this is a genuine question, tell me about what I'm missing). For now though, I'm just not seeing it.
Dick being a ball of anger is just as incorrect ad him being an eternal ball of sunshine.
random PSA, I know a lot of people use duckduckgo as a Google alternative search engine, but it always kind of annoyed me when I was using it because it felt like No Name Brand Google
I have switched to using Startpage.com and vastly prefer it. for one thing, instead of displaying an "AI summary" at the top of the search results (unless you turn it off, yes I know), it displays the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article, with link, whenever it finds one that's relevant.
also a waaayyyyy better sense of design than duckduckgo
also private, European based, least annoying search I've used lately (RIP old "don't be evil" Google)
Keeping a list of Google alternatives just in case…
i have one of those, scraped from multiple different rec posts:
Search Engines
Infinity Search is an alternative search engine with a special focus on privacy
DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine for those who value their privacy and are put off by the thought of their every query being tracked and logged. Uses bangs, ![site] for in-page search (sells your data to microsoft and draws from fucking bing)
WolframAlpha is a privately owned search engine that allows you to “compute expert-level answers using Wolfram’s breakthrough algorithms, knowledgebase, and AI technology.” A data search engine.
Boardreader is a search engine for forums and message boards. It allows you to search forums and then filter down results by date and language.
Based in France, Qwant is a privacy-based search engine that won’t record your searches or use your personal details for advertising. Uses “&” as a bang search.
Another privacy-based search engine is Search Encrypt, which uses local encryption to ensure that users’ identifiable information cannot be tracked. Metasearch across multiple engines.Â
Offering unbiased results from several sources, SearX is a metasearch engine that aims to present a free, decentralized view of the internet. Can be self-hosted.Â
Gibiru’s tagline is “Unfiltered private search” and that’s exactly what it offers. Requires AnonymoX Firefox add-on for privacy.Â
Disconnect allows you to conduct anonymous searches through a search engine of your choice.
Swisscows provides fully encrypted searches to protect your privacy and security. Built-in violence/porn filter cannot be overridden.Â
MetaGer offers “Privacy Protected Search & Find” through its anonymised search. A plugin will allow it to be made a default.
Gigablast is a private search engine that indexes millions of websites and servers real-time information without tracking your data, keeping you hidden from marketers and spammers. Variety of filtration and refinement options for searching.Â
Oscobo is a search engine that protects your privacy while you search the web. By not using any third-party tools or scripts, your data is protected from hacking and misuse. Has a Chrome extension to allow use in toolbar.Â
https://search.marginalia.nu/ an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed. Use old-school searching rather than query-based for the best results.Â
https://www.mojeek.com/Â
https://wiby.me/ - It’s goal is to index as many personalized websites as possible, and NOT commercial sites.Â
https://4get.ca/ it works a lot like SearX, but honestly better. It doesn’t have its own index, but pulls from many others. I think it’s the best for research, since it allows you to search for answers from different indexes, is easy to configure, add free, and avoids censorship as much as it can.
https://www.searchenginemap.com/ for more on how search engines relate to each other.
https://yep.com/ is a crawler
https://www.etools.ch/ retrieves from Google, Mojeek, Bing, and Yandex, like Searx

https://searxng.org/ (next gen Searx)
https://luxxle.com/ - possibly conservative?
https://presearch.com/ - good for academic?
https://kagi.com/smallweb - free/randomised Kagi.
