The CIA is generally responsible for gathering, analyzing, and providing information about potential threats to national security from outside the U.S. Personally, a plot to take over Earth via a blackmail/hostage situation with the moon falls into that category. Fortunately! Our unlikely heroes managed to thwart this dastardly plan. However, there is definitely egg on the CIA's face that they didn't apparently know, and I could see there being some memos or an internal PSA, so to speak.

All of this to say, I find it incredibly amusing that Jo's father—canonical CIA agent—might've had to read a dossier about his daughter's ex and his band playing a Substantial role in saving earth.
