Ten or 15 years ago, I read a comment or blog post or something in which the writer explained her theory that the reason men fought so hard against being called creepy was because it doesn't leave room for negotiation.

Since I first used the internet in the early 2000s I have seen countless men freely and openly expressing every like and dislike they have about women's bodies, about what sort of woman she is if she isn't his preference (or, god forbid, be average looking) constantly insulting women they don't find attractive, literally posting photos of actresses and pornstars and picking apart every single aspect of their faces and bodies, invading women's posts to make sexual comments or call her fat and/or ugly, openly talking about grooming young women, openly sexualizing children, discussing at length the grooming preferences they have for women's bodies and calling women disgusting pigs for not conforming to them. A huge amount of the internet's history has just been men's open undisguised lust and hatred for women, it has not ended, it has not gotten better...
