Cal hardly paid him any mind, not bothering to look at him or entertain his antics. “Don’t you have better things to do?”

“I don’t believe I was speaking to you.” Her eyes swung to watch him set the cup back down. “You complain yet you continue to drink it.”

“how can there be so many different spider people? i mean I’ve personally met five others, and somehow i’m still seeing faces i’ve never seen before.” 

“Almost too many, if you asked me.”

“ah just find it weird kids can sign up to join the army at 17 with parental consent but they can’t be a superhero without hand holdin’ before they’re 21. like, shootin’ guns is okay, but using your own natural born abilities for good ain’t?”

“Sounds like the world isn’t ready for your brand of superheroes.”

“I have terrible taste in men. That’s well known. I’m not sure why it’s still making the news. Yes, I married Ronan. There’s more pressing topics.”

“What an interesting way to phrase it. But yes, there are more pressing matters that don’t really pertain to you.”

“We did what was best for our kids. That’s all there is to it. Sponsoring them will protect them.”

“Considering my time spent on this planet, I’m starting to wonder if you even understand what the word ‘best’ means.”

“Pretty sure we’ve done this song and dance before, but sure. Let’s do it again. The last thing I want is to sponsor someone but do we have any choice if the alternative is that they sit in jail?”

“So we’re just publicly outing people in the news, locking others up and writing articles with quotes that are lies? How is this okay? And no – I don’t want to comment on Peter. I’ll stand by him no matter what Jameson or my dad says.”

“I’ve spent a lot of time learning to not kill, but whatever they did at C.R.A.D.L.E. – Someone needs to burn it down.”

The look she shot him was not one of openness. “Who are you?”

“There’s a telepath interfering with minds on Krakoa. Obviously we don’t want President Osborn get wind of it, but the Council is working on it. I’m doing as much as I can, but newborns make life difficult.” 

“Perhaps if you don’t want the President to get wind of it, you should keep certain details to yourself. Lucky for you, my loyalty isn’t to him.”
