IT'S A LEAP OF FAITH.

“hey--i--i’m special, okay. you don’t see anyone else turning invisible and shocking people.”

“No--no.” he shook his head. “I don’t think so...I think it’s normal -- I think if you weren’t, then you should be worried. Fear is normal...in fact, sometimes -- sometimes it’s a good thing. Keep’s you from doing something stupid.” at least in his experience. 

“who’s your ex boyfriend?”

“is that a you thing or an everyone thing?--i’m good though. just trying to get used to all this. how are you?”

“and that’s totally cool--but it was separate. now everything is just smashing together and i don’t really know what to do with that information. like...what even is reality...?”

“i’ve personally met four different versions of peter--they’re all different. the only bright side is that they all have the same name so if i get them confused, i don’t really have to worry about it.”

“well i got bit by a radioactive spider and have spider like powers so, not sure what everyone else’s excuse is but bug-boy is both scientifically inaccurate and humiliating. so, i’m just gonna stick with spider-man.”

“this place is so weird.” miles muttered. “i’ll let you know if i get arrested.” he nodded. “leave it to america to arrest the good guys for...being good guys.”

“you were eight. how can it be gross?”

“i think it’s all pretty much the same level of weird. there’s like four peters and thats only the ones i’ve met.”

“who’s gimmick did you steal?”

“uh...so far? yeah. not really sure that has anything to do with how smart i am and more to do with the fact that the police can’t scale the side of the empire state building but, go off.”

“the feeling’s kind of mutual, honestly. america has a giant ego, loves itself way too much, claims the fact that it has freedom makes it the best despite the fact that there’s like two hundred seven sovereign states in the world and like a hundred and eighty of ‘em have freedom. in reality, at the end of the day it’s just a capitalist hellhole that drives over the little people while the rich eat off of ‘em...” miles trailed off realizing he was rambling. “sorry. uhm. i’m miles--you’re gamora, right?” 

“yeah, i could--i could see how that would be weird.” he couldn’t even begin to touch that one. “how...many of you...are there?” he asked. there were a lot of spider people but at least they weren’t all copies of him.

“yeah, i’m still trying to wrap my head around the infinite part.” miles admitted. still, there was a point where he really thought he wouldn’t see her again so he was glad to be wrong about that. even if circumstances weren’t really ideal. “well, i mean i guess you don’t have to be friends with them if you don’t want to--wait--we’re friends, right?.”

the question brought on some kind of guilt. sometimes he thought maybe if he’d been bitten sooner he would have had help and then what happened wouldn’t have happened, or if he could have just gotten his shit together a little sooner and not been so scared he could have pulled him out of there...peter was just as young as he was when he started as spiderman and that information made him even more guilty but he couldn’t change it. and now the reality was gone... “i would have told him the weight of the world wasn’t on him and we were gonna be okay.”

"uh...everything? is that an acceptable answer? like, you ever lept off the side of a sky scraper before? it’s like flying.”
