AU-gust Day #10: Pirate AU
Will stood on the edge of the plank, his eyes closed, and didnât show any fear in front of the men whoâd forced him here.Â
A life of piracy had always been leading up to this, and with his crew gone he had nothing left. He ignored the thoughts of someone else, a wraith, the man heâd vowed never to go near again. Will would rather die than let his last thoughts be of him.Â
He took a deep breath, let his body calm, and was ready to feel the icy cold death heâd so long been promised.Â
But he was denied his fate by the sound of a cannonball.Â
Will turned, wide eyed, and stared at a vision out of his nightmares.Â
He thought for a moment of jumping still, punishing that man for what he did, but the moment he saw Captain Hannibal Lecter all his thoughts of death were gone.Â
Hannibal stepped through the fighting that had broken out among the brigands whoâd commandeered The Wolf Trap and killed his crew. His long ash blonde locks swayed in the wind and Willâs heart beat faster the closer he came.Â
He was even more handsome than Will remembered.Â
The minute they were close enough to speak Will found he had no words.Â
âYour beauty has only blossomed since I last was fortunate enough to lay eyes on you.âÂ
They stared at each other, an armâs length apart, and Willâs eyes filled with angry tears. âIâm happy to know you remember me, Captain,â he spit, âYou can now change the image in your head of me while you watch me plunge to my death.âÂ
Will rushed forward, only to have Hannibal pull him back roughly. His growl of anger made Will oddly nostalgic, and the tears that had threatened to fall wet his cheeks at being in Hannibalâs arms.Â
Hannibal pulled him back onto the deck and kept his hold from behind, pressing his nose to Willâs hair and breathing in the scent of him. âYou stubborn fool.â
âI deserve it, for what Iâve done.âÂ
âI failed them,â he said, leaning back against him, âIâŚI wasnâtâŚIâm not meant to be a captain. Iâm meantâŚâÂ
Hannibal turned him around and stared into Willâs eyes. ââŚto be a first mate. Youâre meant to be at my side.âÂ
Will shook his head. âI canât.âÂ
He was pulled into an embrace that made him shake with want of more.Â
âNot in my bed,â Hannibal whispered in his ear, âJustâŚby my side. I need you, Will.âÂ
He closed his eyes. âYes, Captain.âÂ
The Chesapeake had been home to him for nearly five years, and it would be again. But he would not let himself fall into the temptation of letting Hannibal back into his heart.Â
