Got several immediate responses last night on 🧵 when I said I hoped an author would print and bind a copy of their fanfic for sale when they finished it. This is an author who was evidently bullied to the point of not updating a truly great fic, and I not only want them to see people are still supportive, but dammit- I want to know how the story ends!
All responses were berating me for suggesting it, that it's illegal, that good authors won't do that, and basically that I was wrong to suggest it.
All this happening while I'm sitting next to a bookshelf with MANY printed and bound versions of fics I have purchased from good authors. (Good both in the talent and good human meanings of the word)
Y'all. I am so tired. I tried to explain that it could be done but people doubled down. I deleted my 🧵 because I just do not have the interest or energy to argue with people about 💩 like this anymore.
So to that author, I hope you find joy in writing and sharing again. I would love to know what happens to our lovestruck boys.
To the bullies that made this author and many others stop writing and sharing, I hope the "e" key stops working on every keyboard you touch for the rest of your lives. (But only for you)
To those who were so positive you were right when you weren't, I hope you stub your toe soon.
