The crash had happened in an instant. One second, she was driving down the street and listening to the radio, humming along to a new song she didnât quite know the lyrics to yet. She could remember what happened after that. A bright light and then.. Silence.Â
No, not quite silence. A ringing, though. A high-pitched ringing in her ears that deafened her to the sounds of the sirens and the crunching of metal around her. Lulled her into a silent state of unrest where she lingered between the two worlds. She remembers seeing her mother, standing on the other side, shrouding in light and waiting for her to cross over.Â
But something held her back. Like a rope holding her and keeping her from crossing over the threshold. She fought for it but it seemed hopeless. She watched her mom whisper something, but it was too faint for Naeyeong to hear. Before she could ask what she said, she was jolted awake by a stinging pain in her side.Â
âW-Whatâs this?â Her heartbeat sped up. There was a voice in her head that told her not to panic, but how could she stay calm in a situation like this? The smell of anti-septic and bleach penetrated her nose and it took all the energy she had in her not to break down. Instead, she froze. Her muscles ached, but only dully. It was obvious that she had some sort of medicine pumping through her veins, keeping the pain at bay. The adrenaline and mixture of pain killers was enough to hold the excruciating pain from hitting her, but the haze offered her no answers.
What had happened? Where was she? Who was she?Â
âWh-what happened?â Her voice rang out like a frogâs croak. How long had she been laying here? How long had she been asleep? Or had she really been asleep at all? She remembers seeing a woman, mumbling something to her but for all its worth she can remember who it was. The fact that it was her mother escaping her mind completely. In fact, the more she focuses, the harder it becomes to even remember her own name. Was this Hell?
he could feel a lump in his throat, trying to swallow it over and over again but it didnât work. the doctors said she might have a temporal memory loss, there was a chance of her being paralyzed after this, which jaehyun prayed to god to not happen or there was even a chance for her to never wake up and he had been preparing for each and every possible outcome of this very bad  scenario that destiny has written for them.
â we ... we were in a car crash. you took the most damage. i -- â before he could tell her more, the next inquiry truly stunned him into silence. â i wish i was dead â. his eyes misted over and all he could do was to look away from her - towards the ceiling, towards the corner of the room. â youâre not dead, no. â he finally muttered, voice cracking with emotions. the guilt was going to eat him alive, that was for sure.
from the past three days, jaehyun only leaned her name. ong naeyeong. nobody gave him any other information, not that they were obliged to. but no family members seemed to have come to visit, unlike his own mother and father who were worried sick. he hid from them the whole truth and it was starting to weight on his consciousness. this wasnât right, god it was awful. â youâve just been asleep for ... three or four days. i donât remember exactly. â maybe it was more than four, granted he too was told to have spelt for almost two days.
in this place, with so much going on in his head, jaehyun has started losing track of time. it was the last thing he cared about, honestly. â do you remember anything from the ... accident? â now that was tactless.
