the fire station had its alarm blaring and its firefighters rushing from one side to the garage. the team had excellent organization, hence why it took no longer than seven minutes for them to arrive at the location. there, a building was burning, embraced by flames that danced around dangerously. in the meantime, thomas learned that there was some sort of a private party there and it was highly likely for someone to have started the fire. accidentally ... or not. speculations.
upon arriving, he saw that many men and women alike were already outside. “ come on, guys. let’s show them how well trained we are! ” he roared and hopped off the machine, gesturing for everyone to get on with their tasks. he was often the one to rush into the biggest fire and scout the place as much as possible, to be sure nobody would be left inside.
a few of his teammates have done the same now too. some would say that what they do is heroic but to thomas, that is just being dutiful. there’s no such thing as a hero, there’s only the strong and the weak.
he couldn’t hear much, other than the cracking sounds of his surrounding burning, but he was able to catch a glimpse of a person’s movements. a few strides and he was almost at the corner where someone was struggling to get up. they could have been injured or just dizzy from all the smoke. it was a woman, that he could tell when he was close enough. it took one swift movement for him to pick her up and carry her towards the exit. that until he was suddenly knocked on the floor by the burning timber that fell. the piece was a little bigger than him, causing him to struggle in attempt to get out from under it. at least, he could react so much to almost throw the woman forward so she doesn’t get hurt.
his clothes were almost burning, he could feel the extreme warmth from his left shoulder down his entire side and even leg. his helmet must have been damaged too for he could feel something trickling down the side of his face too. definitely not sweat. he was lucky that a fellow came along and helped them both until the entire ceiling fell down, possibly due to the weight of the water that’s been poured too. / @lcvexdrunk
