AND THERE THEY GO!

Finally finished this! Yaaay! I started this because I wanted to make a sticker set for my Redbubble store (but also because I wanted to draw them all falling and acting accordingly xD). I’m planning on combining everyone into a more complete poster, but it’s going to have to wait since I’m going on vacation soon. But yeah.

MABEL HAS NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR

Now let’s break this down

Things Mabel did:

Expressed that she had no interest in playing the game

Laughed when Stan said “buttress”

Said Dipper was using “dork words” but did not actually CALL him a dork

Status: Did nothing that warrants an apology

Things Stan did:

Made fun of the game, its strategies, and declared the only people who play it are “nerds”

Continuously did this throughout the episode and took his teasing too far, like usual

Clearly hurt Dipper’s feelings

Status: Needed to apologize, and DID

**Side Note: Soos also said it was “nerdy” and I see NO ONE demanding an apology from HIM

Things Dipper did:

Misunderstood Mabel laughing at the word “buttress” as Mabel making fun of him

Declared Stan and Mabel “aren’t smart enough” to play. Which is way worse than anything either of them have EVER said to him

Status: Should have apologized, especially after Mabel and Stan SAVED HIS LIFE by playing the game and winning

Final Conclusion: Mabel does not need to apologize for expressing her lack of interest in the game. If anything, Dipper needs to apologize for essentially calling his sister and uncle “stupid”.

she canonically talks louder than other people & has a tendency to not notice that she has (im hard of hearing myself and i do that all the time)

literally wasn’t bothered at all with all the dinosaur screaming in the dinosaur episode (i cant remember the name of the top of my head sorry)

remember towards the end of A Tale Of Two Stans, when she overhears the Stan twins in the hallway, and she turns towards Dipper and says “did you hear that? i think they’re buying us ice cream!” (or something like that, i dont really remember)

mishearing things is like the #1 sign of being deaf/hoh

if she got/has a hearing aid she would buy those little hearing aid stickers all the time and she’d constantly be decorating it

in fact she probably coordinates her hearing aid designs with whatever sweater she’s wearing that day

dipper probably always has a few hearing aid batteries on him somewhere just in case mabels hearing aids go out in the middle of an adventure

IT WASN’T STANLEY’S FAULT.

When Stanley bumped the machine in the science fair, he specifically picks up the grating on the side and puts it back together. The machine, though it smoked for a bit, didn’t stop moving; it kept going because it’s perpetual motion. Lee is very ginger with it; and hopes to god he doesn’t fuck it up.

COME MORNING THOUGH, the machine isn’t moving, the grate is unhinged again, and there is a blue spark that sets off n the inside, causing it to smoke.

BUT STANLEY DIDNT LEAVE THE MACHINE LIKE THAT. HE PUT THE GRATE BACK ON. HE MADE SURE THE MACHINE STILL MOVED.

SOMEONE ELSe, SOME THIRD PARTY, CAME IN AND MESSED WITH THE MACHINE.

WHAT IF IT WAS FUCKING BLENDIN BLANDIN?

WHAT IF HE WAS MAKING SURE THAT SHIT BROKE SO THE TWINS SEPARATED?

WHAT IF IT WAS A BILL AGENT WHO NEEDED THE TWINS APART?

WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF???

you can’t call Mabel only Dipper’s protector when in every single dangerous instance he is always the one putting himself in front of her to protect her

and she is always the first person he’s worried about protecting

you can’t ignore that the bully that calls Stanford a loser looks like Pacifica who calls Mabel a loser, and that Stanley and Dipper are always ready to defend their twins

Stanley and Dipper were bullied in the past, Stan for being weak and Dip for his birthmark. They are not anymore because they hide their insecurities instead of embracing them as Stanford and Mabel embrace theirs

“It was terrible. I was the weakest kid on the playground.”

“Kids used to make fun of my birthmark until I started hiding it all the time.”

and knowing that Mabel is a little odd and unashamed of it is what draws Stanford closer to her

“I like this kid! She’s weird.”

You cannot say that Dipper ditches Mabel to pursue the supernatural when he always wants her, just her, to come on adventures with him like Stanley just wants Stanford to go adventuring with him

“Everything was fine until you started bringing your friends around every night. I mean, hanging out with you this summer’s been fun. But, now you’re always with Candy and Grenda, and I’m… like… just, left behind.”

and you cannot say that Dipper doesn’t sacrifice his wants for Mabel because he sacrifices more than she does and this is what Bill Cipher literally knows and uses to manipulate Dipper in Sock Opera into making a very bad deal with him.

And the only thing that changes Mabel’s mind about giving Dipper up for her show is remembering everything Dipper has done for her.

I’m not saying Mabel’s not like Stanley in some aspects; she obviously is. But let’s not ignore Dipper’s loyalty to Mabel, alright? Sock Opera was a really important episode. The twins’ issues weren’t really resolved here, and I feel like it was foreshadowing a lot to come, especially because some of the twins’ dialogue parallels the Stans’ flashback down in the portal room.

Stanley: “You’re selfish!”

Stanford: “I’m selfish? Look at you!”

Dipper: “You’re obsessed!”

Mabel: “I’m obsessed? Look at you!”

and this confrontation

looks an awful lot like this future confrontation between them
