stem has to be the worst possible example to use as an example of jobs that allegedly "nobody would want to do under socialism" because there is no profit incentive from potentially patenting something or whatever (an actual argument i've seen, that people aren't going to be interested in discovering or inventing things). science is like probably the best example of something useful to humanity that many people do for the love of the game, though of course they are also motivated by the prospect of fame and recognition from the community. literally nobody goes into academia for the prospect of maximizing their earnings because with a degree that lets you do that you can easily find a job that pays much better, if anything, people are forced *out* of it and into other fields when they would otherwise want it. this isn't to say there isn't sometimes a lot of corruption, but more so that this is like top 5 things that you're not going to have trouble finding volunteers for

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
