Recent outfits I’ve worn during mandatory quarantine at home. Just because we are locked up doesn’t mean that we must sacrifice our standards!

To answer your question, what I love is the regal-ness and splendor of the aesthetic. Carved hardwood elements, heavy furniture, men and women always dressing their best (I miss the days when men would wear suits daily, or had specific types out outfits for activities that still communicated “gentleman” to the passerby). There is something timeless about the design. It never seems to go out of style, whether original or when recreated properly. In a world that changes every ten years or so, it provides something of a constant to look back on and continue to enjoy. I hope that answers your question?

Before and after on a thrift store find! Johnston & Murphy shoes I found for $6.00, plus a couple of hours of time and elbow grease has produced nearly perfect shoes again! Further evidence in favor of buying quality and refurbishing and taking care of garments, instead of replacing them at the first sign of wear and tear.
