besides the poor bread choices though the overall experience has been half the so-amazing-I-feel-like-I’m-in-a-film kind of good, the other half the so-shit-I’d-rather-be-at-home kind of bad. The amazing half was Nice which was so beautiful I actually cried when I had to leave, and the shit half was Dijon where I currently I am which, in total fairness to Dijon, was never in a million years going to compete with Nice and probably got an unfair write-off from me due to the inevitable comparison. I also wound up in a shit study placement here and got stuck with people I didn’t necessarily hate but didn’t click with whatsoever so that kind of dampened my spirits a little as well. Despite that most of the others have hated their time here as well so on the bright side it goes to show that despite what you may think, not everyone travels and has a shiny and perfect time. All in all, incredibly grateful I got to live in a place as incredible as Nice and I’m already trying to figure out a way of spending a summer there in the near future (mainly how the hell I’d manage to fund it.)
So I leave on Friday afternoon but arriving Saturday morning travelling mainly by bus because I skinted myself weeks ago. I’ve also got a few hours in Paris Friday evening so I can cram in a little extra touristing in my second favourite city.
I’ve got a job interview for Wetherspoons on Monday so that I’m hopefully not penniless all summer and then I’ll be spending three months with my parents in lovely Liverpool before disappearing off to Italy. I’m dead excited cos I haven’t spent longer than a week consecutively in Liverpool in over three years so it’ll be nice to get to spend some proper time with my mates again and ~rediscover~ me hometown and stuff. Also been living in shitty student halls with no oven (!!) so gonna get on some proper meals and ride me bike aba every day when I get back.
