I hope you don't have a ectopic pregnancy, because the procedure that will save your life is an abortion.

I hope you don't have a still born baby that your body can't naturally pass because that induction is an abortion.

I hope you are never in a place where carrying a baby full term would mean your death (as mine would, my doctor looked me in the eyes and told me if I get pregnant again I WILL NOT MAKE IT, and fuck you all because my kids need a mom more than they need a sibling.)

I hope you don't find out your baby has a condition that will mean being alive for how ever long will cause them excruciating pain, that you don't have to birth your baby and watch them die a horrific, painful death in your arms.

I hope you aren't raped and forced to carry that baby to term no matter the detriment to your mental/physical health.

I hope you aren't forced to give birth to your abusers child, giving you no way out of the relationship.

I hope your 10 year old is never assaulted and have to carry a baby to term that will almost definitely will kill her.

I hope that you don't go to jail when they investigate your miscarriage and determine that something you did made it YOUR FAULT.

I hope you realize you and your daughters will die from laws you created.

Most of the trigger laws that have been passed in red states only have this provision in place in regards to abortion, but those in states that have completely banned it who suffer these things will suffer the very worst of all, due to all of the health factors listed in the original post. Especially if they're not allowed to seek treatment elsewhere, which may be coming down the line for a good number of states that have banned it.

And even more unfortunately, even in states where life-saving abortion treatment is allowed but nothing else, people can still die.

And everything else that has been mentioned in that post, including the rape, abuse and incest stuff, directly applies right now, and is cruelty enough for anyone unfortunate enough to have to go through this shit. I think that of all the states where abortion is now or soon to be illegal, only Idaho has anything in place in regards to cases of rape and incest, but that's not an endorsement under any circumstances.

The overturning of Roe vs. Wade should never have happened.

The only reason that it did happen is because the right wing has been playing a hell of a long game for four decades. The Dobbs decision has taken away a human right that a good number of people have had all their lives, the right to decide what happens with their own body. It has long been my stance that no one should be forced to carry a kid to term that they don't want. And with our current Supreme Court, it will be a good number of years before everyone in America gets that right back, if we get it back at all.

They wanted to cry, wanted to say everything they hadn’t told her ignoring consequences. They wanted to stay silent, say nothing, accept the comfort of familiarity.

“I’m just existing.”

She sat up, “That’s not good. We need to do something…”

They heard as she went on to list activities, mindlessly agreeing even though they wanted nothing to do with them.

A plan centered in her head, she smiled. “Good. We’ll get past this.”

And with that she was gone.

They knew she cared, but they couldn’t tell her everything.

They’d seen how she reacted to their sibling coming out, how she said she loved them and spoke snidely behind their back.

They had seen how they blindly followed the ideals of the new leader, despite everything he’d done that went against the very religion she claimed to go by.

They’d seen how she’d jumped between religions after the divorce, following whatever her new boyfriend followed and only settling when she got remarried.

They’d heard her husband talk about the insurrection attempt and how he didn’t want something else to happen… but he wouldn’t mind if it did.

They’d known that if their dissenting beliefs were ever revealed she would respond with a long winded tirade about how they were wrong and needed to look up evidence. They knew the evidence said otherwise.

They wished they could say everyone deserves to have their rights protected without it becoming political.

They wished they could like a post by their sibling without her jumping down their throat.

They wished they could admit that they no longer followed a religion. That they didn’t want to go to church with her. That they didn’t live to worry about what would happen if they died.

Not that it stopped them from pondering their death. If it would matter. Who would care if they dissapeared.

Unfortunately, I know exactly the kind of person that this is about. It’s even sadder to think about when it is someone in your family. Someone whose opinion means something to you, although you try your hardest not to let it.

I hope that these people can learn and change and grow. It would be hard, but not impossible.

It hurts to have family members who buy into bullshit like this. Who fall down that damn rabbit hole and believe everything that orange asshole tells them to instead of thinking critically, and who won't listen to fucking reason, insisting that they're the ones who know everything and we're the ones believing lies.

ooh sure! 

the first part of it that i decided on was how pronouns work, which carries over into when iesin speaks in the human tongue - “hunted rabbits, me” instead of “i hunted rabbits”, for instance. in fae, pronouns are suffixes instead of their own words, and they get appended onto the last word of any sentence they’re in. this led to the need to decide which word order the language uses. english, for instance, uses SVO, or subject-verb-object word order. fae sentence structure uses VOS (verb-object-subject) most often. 

next i worked out a few other grammatical rules, like how compound words are formed (the descriptor comes after the object, so realtsolais translated literally would be lightstar), and a few notes on pronunciation; ch, for instance, is a whistled s, nearly a bird-like sound. 

i’m trying to work their dual vocal chord structure and their bird sounds into their language as well! interjections like ouch, uh, huh etc are all replaced by chirps and trills. their bird sounds are also used to help indicate tone and add emphasis during speech. 

developing their language has gone hand in hand with working on fae culture, too; fae don’t have counting words the same way humans do, for instance, which is intertwined with the way they don’t use currency. they have words for one, few, many, and that’s about it.

once i had some of the basic grammatical and word structure rules down, i started building a dictionary! it’s still really limited right now, but some words i think are pretty cool is how the word for one thing is different than the word for one person. eyd is the word for one thing, and cin is the word for one person. cin can be combined with anae, the word for ‘you’, to make anaecin, which is the verbal equivalent of pointing at someone or saying ‘hey you!’; it’s an attention-getter.

Protagonist now remembers key facts about important people. He no longer develops convenient amnesia between cutscenes.

Protagonist now has a cooldown on certain adverbs. Adverbs have been buffed by 30% to compensate.

Developer note: Adverbs are important to writing but they are sometimes overused. This change keeps adverbs relevant while encouraging the use of adjectives and verbs.

The horse now has a name.

Solved a glitch where supernumerary limbs would sometimes emerge during complex physical interactions.

Should no longer display “[insertnamehere]” during conversations and narration. All of such occurrances have been replaced with the appropriate tags.

Conversation continuity has been improved. Characters will no longer inappropriately respond with lines from previous iterations of the narrative.

All references to “Event A” have been purged to reflect changes in narrative structure.

Paragraphs which contained two or more instances of the same adjective have had their adjectives updated to accurately reflect a player’s vocabulary inventory.

Minor time traveling issues have been resolved, all characters should now exist in the same tense.

Punctuation has been improved. Commas have been reduced by half.

Characters sighing has been reduced by 30%.

Characters looking at things or people during conversations has been reduced by 40%. To make up for this, characters thinking about the conversation has been boosted and descriptive narrative has been added.

I’m going to assume you don’t want a treatise on the Horcrux in Harry Potter. 

The sort of practise you’re talking about does exist, though it’s not commonly used by witches. It’s more of a magician thing. Whether or not it’s even possible it could work for witches is a matter of debate, as within my tradition at least, the witch’s soul is set alight. If the soul is already on fire, I’m not sure there would be a way to properly preserve it in an object.
