Canonocally, it’s golden in colour, but I always imagined it long and thick enough to be put in gorgeous warrior braids or crown braids or high ponytails.

I don’t know if I’m correct 100%, but I always see her with her hair tied or braided away from her face, because she’s always busy doing something. At the Institute, keeping it in braids was very practical as it was protected from wind, rain, snow and it didn’t bother her when fighting. So I always thought she would keep this habit.

And I believe she has more intricate braids (I’d go for crown braid) as Sovereign to signify status as well as being practical.

I believe she lets her hair down only when she feels it’s ok to do so (in bed, everytime she wants Darrow to run his fingers through her hair because it calms her, during hot times with her hubby, because who tf keeps their hair unmessy in those times). For example, in Golden Son, when she watched over Darrow I imagine she has her hair down.

I still consider Golden Son to be the best book in the Red Rising series. Strangely, I almost feel bad saying that, as it sounds like I’m saying the series peaked with Book 2. It didn’t and that’s not what I’m saying. (more…)

If you love and adore Roque, Tactus, Cassius, Apollonius and other male characters who did some fucked up shite (or more than some), but you refer to Virginia au Augustus as ‘traitor’, 'power-hungry’, 'scheming bitch’, 'weak’ or 'stupid’ or 'in over her head’ or any other related stuff, I’m sorry to be the one who breaks it to you, but you’re misoginy’s showing.

I love Cassius and the Rath Brothers (Tactus and Apple, the rest can rot) to bits. Even if they did a lot of fucked up shite. And the latters did more than a lot of fucked up shite. But I do acknowledge that they are/were worth a shot to see if they can be better. Tactus didn’t really get the shot, Apple is still on probation (aesthetics or not, I’m still suspicious of the guy) and Cassius is king! Great character development (and fuck Lysander!). Much love to the baby eagle who did the best that he could! 💖👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

But, thing is…Virginia didn’t do much fuck ups compared with these guys. So if you can love Roque and cry over how tragic he was, but suddenly Virginia is a traitor, then you have a problem. And i won’t stand for it.

You can love characters especially for their flaws and fuck ups. There is no problem with that. You can also dislike a character, for no reason other than 'she doesn’t vibe with me’ or whatever. But when you hate on Virginia for the same things your faves do, only worse, that’s fucked up.

It’s almost like…saying Victra is a slut, but Cassius is a sex god (blasphemy! They’re both gods!). Hating on a woman for almost the same things a man does.

No, you don’t get to be an anti and call yourself a Howler. That shit cancels itself out.

People hating on Darrow, because he is not your Griffindor type hero, but a cunning, ruthless, determined, confident character with an evolving moral compass. Yeah, he’s believes in himself and his abilities enough to take insane risks and sometimes he fails. Sue him! If he was invincible the series would have gone nowhere. On the other hand he was this noble knight in shining armour he wouldn’t have been an agent of change.

People saying Mustang is boring and the series would be just fine without her. Fuckboys, please, she is essential for Darrow’s growth because she’s the one who explained to him that there is another way, not Society’s way. That and she saved his arse a lot of times. Not to mention that she is vital to the success of the Rising. And dude, she is the daughter of a power hungry, tyrannical Pixie and twin sister to a psycho with daddy issues. And she is kind and sweet and badass and genius. She is stronger than them, because she remained kind despite everything.

People hating on Mustang because she didn’t love Cassius. If Cassius chooses to get piss drunk when he hears about her wedding instead of letting her go, that’s his buissness. She owes him nothing. Virginia cared for him and felt awful about using him. Yes, it was wrong, but there was no way their ‘love’ would put an end to their families feud or something. She chose her family, just like Cassius chose his. They ended up on opposite sides of the war until Cassius finds out what really happened to his family. That’s it. It adds to the drama, but not that big of a deal. It’s not a love triangle, it’s not a friendzone. Don’t make it bigger than it actually is. Stop hating!

People hating Mustang because she hid Pax. Firstly, she hid Pax from her and Darrow’s enemies. Because if you think Adrius or Octavia would have had mercy on their baby, you need some common sense. Sencondly, she tried to make that Peace with the Sovereign to protect Pax. So he will have an as normal as possible life. And thirdly, she didn’t know Darrow’s real reasons for rising or his intentions. It’s pretty easy to presume he does it for his late wife and he wants to obliterate nost of the ruling class. But Darrow does it for his family. He is a family man. And once she was convinced he will love and accept Pax (because he is also half Gold) she tried to tell him aabout the baby. But it was Deanna who convinced her to not tell him. Read the epilogue of Morning Star. Stop hating!

People hating on Mustang in Morning Star for being after power (when she was not) and in Iron Gold for not having enough power. Pick a side and stick to it, Pixies! This is really pathetic I won’t add more to it.

People hating on Darrow for not being as he was in Morning Star. It’s funny how people begged Pierce not to pull a Rick Riordan, meaning that they asked him to introduce Darrow as a pov character. And then they complain how fucked up Darrow has become and how he’ll die alone (and they won’t be surprised, cause he deserves it). Dudes, every pov character needs a plotline. This is Darrow’s. The tired hero. The God fallen from grace. Deal with it. It’s normal to question him, to doubt him, to be disappointed of him. JUST DON’T HATE.

People who believe what Roque did was totally valid, because Darrow was a bad friend to him and he didn’t deserved him. If you can hold Thistle accountable for betraying her friends (not Darrow, but Sevro and the Howlers who were supposed to be at the Triumph), do not dare to defend the Poet. He sold his friends. Ok, he disagreed with Darrow and wanted him stopped. But Victra? Or Mustang? There is no excuse. Roque did it to protect his stupid ideals. You can like his character, I’m not judging, but don’t mollycoddle his arse.

People who harass Pierce Brown to the point he is too sick to open his inbox. I don’t know what will happen when the tv series makes the fandom bigger, but I expect a shitstorm, given what’s happening with Star Wars and other popular fandoms.

People who ‘forget’ about Fitchner au Barca, the first Ares. The one who made the Sons of Ares, who lost his belived wife to a fucked up system, but managed to dream for more. The one Cassius decapitated and put the head in a box to ‘gift’ to Darrow (that arrow in the neck woke the Pixie up, thank Mustang). The one who managed to go past proctor Jupiter and Tactus’ eldest brother (pls tell me it’s Tharsus) and won the post of Rage Knight. The baddest man in the Core.

People who agree with the ways of the Rim. And who try to reason it with the fact that the Society is genetically built that way and demokracy can’t possibly work because of that. No, demokracy doesn’t work because people are corrupt or militate for their extremist views and the people are indifferent to the well- being of their demokracy. No matter how noble and and entitled the Golds of the Rim seem, they still lie and enslave people. They still drug Violets and rape Pinks and send their own kids to kill each other at the Institute. Please go back and reconsider your opinions!
