(John 14: 1)
There were times when we all at one point or another decided to put our trust in someone else or decided to let a situation play itself out to see what was going to happen in the end. It’s not that we had total (or any) control over that person or situation, but we still willingly decided to make the decision to be vulnerable. For many people this turned out to be a mistake on their part, as the person they’d committed their trust to turned out to be untrustworthy; or the situation they decided to let itself play out ended in a way they were hoping against. It’s life events like those that makes it much harder for us to face a similar situation without having some doubts or fears. And God is not stupid, He knows how those situations affected us, but He also knows that if we would make that decision just one more time - to put our trust in Him, we’ll come to see that He is totally trustworthy and that there’s no situation beyond His control. God is looking for you to make that decision not be afraid, that’s why this verse begins with the words “Don’t let”; Jesus wants you to trust in the sovereign power of the Father, and in Him, the Word of God who calls those things that be not as if they already exists.
