It is so weird how Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Royal, and Metaphor Re:Fantazio are all part of gigantically discounted bundle sets on Steam. Like, it's cheaper to buy P5R and Metaphor as a bundle instead of either one individually.
The functional price on the Persona games is $21 USD while Metaphor is $31 USD because of these bundles.
I have a sneaking suspicion Atlus is using the bundles to put their games on a perpetual sale and get around the limits Steam puts on discounting games while also trying to inflate sales numbers to shareholders.
Like, Atlus knows it's gotten every person who would buy P5R at $60 but it doesn't want to drop the price out of ego and/or shareholder perception. So it instead sells P5R to the price that will actually get more sales by adding it to a bundle with P3R and sliding the bundle discount as low as it can get away with.
And then anyone who happens to look at it will think "Oh hey, I was kinda thinking of buying P5R one day but that $60 price tag is a bit much. But I can get it AND P3R for cheaper. That's a way better price by comparison. I should buy it."
And then Atlus can report sales of both P5R and P3R.
Meanwhile Persona 4 Golden is over there being sold for $20 which I'd argue is overpriced since it's a port of a Vita game from 2012.
