Here are fifty pictures. Some of them (not necessarily exactly half) were made by humans; the rest are AI-generated. Please guess which are
Quiz for testing your ability to tell AI-generated images from human-created art. The Answer Key is on astralcodexten.
I got 74%, that is, 13 wrong out of 50. It would be cool to know how well people can do, especially people who are more knowledgeable about anatomy and texture than I am.
I submitted the test not realizing it would erase my responses so there's some I didn't remember what I answered for
that's a goddamn Adeptas Sororitas
e: there are a couple that looked so obvious I figured they had to be tricks, but they weren't, I think I got 15 wrong
others were "I think this is AI but the artist might just be bad, is there a minimum quality to be included here?" like the one where the house appears to be sitting on a green hill but the green hill is also a forest obscuring the other houses
I didn't end up submitting the test, because I was more interested in just looking at the answers, but I definitely struggled with the "what level of attempting to fool me is the test on?" issue as I was scrolling through. This one in particular looked so like a genre of AI art I see all the time that I thought "I don't know, is this one somebody did by hand?"
And of course there must be some originally human-made type of art that people who make these using AI are riffing on that I haven't seen, but it's just so AI to me in the composition, features, etc., that I couldn't tell whether Scott was trying to fool me by using it. Fun exercise, though, in spite of that.
