Summary: What if Angie Yonaga and Tenko Chabashira were best friends before the Danganronpa V3 game? We explore the story of how these two met and how close they really were before the killing game forced them to be against each other.

Notes: This is my own fanficition story set in the New Danganronpa V3 pre-game timeline before the killing game began. Tenko is portrayed as bisexual in this story. This story is to explore why she has a hatred for men, so please do not be put off by certain writing decisions in the first and a later chapter. This is a slowburn yuri love story between Tenko and Angie in their school years, yes they both go to the same school in this story cause I said so. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 1: Heartbreak

In a local school located somewhere in Japan, we see a young teenage girl with long black hair dressed in a dark blue traditional Japanese school uniform with an opened buttoned jacket with gold buttons, a tan under sweater with brown buttons, a white undershirt with a simple v-neck collar, a blue striped tie, a dark blue short skirt with a light brown lined pattern, black knee socks, and brown school loafers. She is carrying a pink and red valentine’s themed heart shaped box of chocolates in her hand and soon approaches an unknown young school boy dressed in a similar uniform. With a nervous expression on her face, she soon gets the boy’s attention, makes a confession and hands him the box of chocolate. Feeling anxious, the girl awaits a hopefully positive response as the boy observes the box and as he looks back at the girl, he starts chuckling a harsh laughter in the girl’s face. “What? Are you serious? You’re confessing to me? Get real Chabashira-san! Everyone knows you’re the loser who can never get a date. If people see me dating you, I’ll never hear the end of it from my bros.” He loudly exclaimed. The girl’s expression soon changes to a saddened look as she musters a few words to the boy, “But, but I l l lov-.” The boy soon cuts off the girl, “Oh don’t even try to finish that sentence.” The boy throws down the box on the ground crushing it without a thought of hesitation. The girl becomes distraught, she soon falls to the ground with tears forming in her eyes. The boy scoffs, “Pfft, what a drama queen, I’m out of here.” Leaving without acknowledging the girl. The girl continues to cry over the crushed chocolates as she says to herself, “Why, why does always happen to me? I tried so hard this time, why can’t it ever turn out different for me!?” The girl punches the ground out of anger continuing to cry. As she is sobbing, another figure comes over to her and crouches down to her eye level. The figure reaches their hand out to the girl and asks, “Hello friend, are you ok?” The dejected girl lifts her head to see another school girl with dark skin and white hair tied up in twin tails wearing a similar school uniform to hers except with her coat buttoned up with a red bow tie visible underneath and a medium size black skirt.

Notes: There is a conversation about Angie being from another country/island. While there is nothing offensive, and I did not name a specific country since she has no confirmed country of origin. Just thought I list this as a note in case anyone may find it uncomfortable to read.

The two young girls walk around a local town looking at various stores and restaurants. The white hair girl soon asks a question, “So, what kind of treat are you looking for to help thy spirits?” The black hair girl feeling even more confused decides to ask her own questions, “Ok first off, who even are you? Why are you helping me? And why do you keep talking like that?” The white girl stops skipping in her tracks, “Whoopsee, did I never give you my name? My most humble apologies. I am Angie Yonaga, a messenger of God, and I am only helping you in your time of need.” The black hair girl looks at her with a displeased face and replies with, “Ok then. Well, my name is Tenko Chabashira. You didn’t answer my last question” Angie gives a puzzled look and replies with, “Oh Tenko? That is such an interesting name. Do you mean my speech patterns? It is just the way I talk.” Tenko soon replies with a befuddled look, “Sigh whatever. Hey you know you’re supposed to address me by my last name right? We’re not even friends.” Angie gives a slightly sad expression, “Awwww, are we not friends?” Tenko starts to sweat a bit, “Ah, I mean, we only just met about a couple of minutes ago. Why would you even act so friendly towards someone like me? Are you pitying me?” Angie soon feels concerned over Tenko’s comment and says, “Oh, I am sorry, am I overstepping my boundaries? I just could not leave you crying after witnessing such a sad moment.” Tenko feels startled as she asks, “Oh, so you saw everything that happened with that stupid boy?” Angie responds with nodding her head up and down. Tenko sighs with exasperation as she states, “Look you don’t have to feel pity for me, it’s not like it was that bad anyways.” Angie responds with, “Aw, but you were crying so much.” Tenko becomes embarrassed scratching her head as she expresses, “That was just in the moment, I’m over it now.” Angie becomes disappointed and states, “Oh really? Well I was just about to offer you ice cream to help lift your spirits.” Tenko becomes surprised and then responds with, “Oh ice cream? Well actually that sounds pretty good right about now.” Angie reacts with excitement and proclaims, “Oh? Then how about we go get it, I know the most perfect place!” Tenko responds with approval, “Heh alright, but you don’t need to offer to buy me anything.” Angie shakes her head and states, “Aw do not worry, it is no trouble. Come, take a seat.”

Angie and Tenko stop to sit down at a small outdoors ice cream shop called, the Fruity Parlor. They both pick up menus and observe the options provided as Angie asks, “So what are you in the mood for?” Tenko gives a small frown as she replies with, “At least let me buy you something too if you’re gonna be so nice to me.” Angie expresses with joy, “Oh no no no, I cannot consume too much dairy as it can give me a stomachache and gain weight.” Tenko gives her a smug smile as she responds with, “Oh really? Then how you do know this is the most perfect place for ice cream?” Angie feels slightly embarrassed as she exclaims, “Whoopsee, guess I am, guilty as charged, as they say.” Tenko gives off small chuckles as she glances back at the menu, “Well this blueberry surprise sounds pretty good, what about you?” Angie studies the menu with wonder as she cites, “Oh the lemon meringue has always been my favorite.” Tenko cracks a small smile as a waitress comes by to take the two girls’ orders and leaves. Angie notices Tenko’s new expression as she points out, “Aww Tenko, it looks like you are already feeling better, I am glad!” Tenko becomes shocked as she lifts her head up to say, “Wha-what? Jeez come on, what’s with you? Didn’t I tell you you suppose to address me by my last name?” Angie’s face turns puzzled as she inquires, “Eh, am I supposed to do that? I guess I am still not familiar with the customs here.” Tenko starts to feel bewildered as she asks, “Not familiar? Are you not from around here Yonaga?” Angie appears nervous as she answers with, “Oh, were you able to tell?” Tenko tenses up a bit as she expresses, “Um, well it’s just you have an odd way of talking and you don’t seem to be native here, uh no offense.” Angie face changes to an anxious look as she taps her index fingers together to convey, “Oh it is alright, I am used to it. But you are correct, my family and I come from an island far away from Japan. We had just recently moved here a year ago.”

As the two girls exchange words, the waitress comes to serve them with their desired ice cream orders. Angie quickly turns ecstatic clasping her hands together as she expresses, “Ooooo! At last, I am excited!” Tenko’s expression slightly changes to a similar mood while feeling a bit guilty. “Heh, yea I’d like to dig in too.” As the two enjoy their sweet delectables, Tenko with a sorrow expression on her face decides to apologize with, “Hey Yonaga, I’m sorry if I was being invasive with you, I’ve been in such a bad mood since you met me.” As Angie was joyously eating her dessert, she reacts with, “Oh, it is alright Te- I mean Chabashira, I am not mad. I was simply answering your questions.” Tenko becomes dismayed over Angie’s quick acceptance of her apology as she conveys, “You know, you don’t have to be so easy to accept what I say to you. I have been pretty rude to you since we started talking.” Angie gives her a reassuring smile as she states, “Oh no no no, it is quite alright, I hold no grudges. God tells me it is a sin to be vengeful towards others.” Tenko feels troubled as she inquires a question, “Heh you seem to bring up God a lot. Are you religious or something?” Angie gives off a curious tone as she communicates, “Oh why of course! My family and I have always been devoted followers to God. It is our duty to spread his message to others.” Tenko establishes a concerning expression and follows up with, “Oh, is that the reason why you’re even talking to me? Are you trying to convert me?” Angie notices Tenko’s reluctance on the subject matter as she communicates to her, “Oh no, it was not my intention at first. I really did want to lend a hand helping to your needs.” Tenko gives off a sigh of relief as she proclaims, “Oh alright, if you say so. The saying is ‘a helping hand in need’ by the way.” Angie shows a look of interest as she verbalizes, “Ah I see I see. Thank you!”
