“They did a bunch of development research before they actually went out and shot these scenes. They looked at octopuses, right? However, couple of issues arose; when octopuses are underwater, they’re kinda weightless, and that’s not really the right look for the arms. And they decided they wanted a more bone or jointed look for Doc Ock’s arms here in the movie. They’re still flexible, but it’s much more inspired by a snake than it is an octopus.
