So kinda following up on my previous ramble, I am rewatching certain bits of beast yeast for analysis (like my Purelily one) and I lingered on this line.
I believe (I could be wrong idk) this here was what people were using to claim that White Lilyβs death was a βlore retconβ. This line gave fans (including me) the idea that White Lily was going to merge with Dark Enchantress in order to defeat her. But that not happening was an inconsistency with what was established here.
But if anything this explains why she died in the first place. Elder Faerie said, despite waking her up with the life powder it can only bring her half a life. It's made very obvious in episode 1 and 2 that this βsecond chanceβ Lily was given was never meant to last. However I did wish (and still do) that White Lily did become whole with Dark Enchantress in the end, to give her some greater closure that she deserved.
But that's not the reason I made this post through, what really got me think is exactly what he says here.
If we take his words literally and reverse it means that: βIn order for White Lily and Dark Enchantress must be whole neither must, well live.β
And um, neither are looking very alive right now.
Now this line can and probably is meant to purely justify why she died, but if we are to become a bit hopeful and delusional, it could entail her becoming Whole.
I act like there's still hope because of a couple things:
Aside from the statement made by Devsis themself stating that βWhite Lily cookieβs story isnβt overβ
The ending to act 1 makes it quite clear that dying was never a part of White Lilyβs plan. It was a possibility she accepted and was prepared for but her death wasnβt intended in her sacrifice. She wanted to reunite with her friends and it's interesting that in her letter to Pure Vanilla she promises to return.
The way Pure Vanilla is 'coping' with her death. (My favourite scene in ep 1) I find it interesting that Pure Vanilla seems to genuinely believe that she will return. That her soul is still out there and that a reunion is still possible. But it's interesting that he acknowledges that her soul never became whole, that it's scattered in the wind.
Anywho Iβm with Vanilla on this one, there is still hope!
But the how of it all? I have no idea!
I saw a cool idea that she is in some sort of purgatory in an endless battle with Dark Enchantress trying to βatoneβ for her sins. Maybe once she is at peace with herself she may become whole and come back as a full ghost.
I mean thats the idea for my AU, but for canon, still no clue!
But hey, It would be real neat to bring her back (as long as its executed decently)
