You have a dog. You set your friend up on a date with the guy she likes. You hunt down a serial killer who takes the last member of your family away. Your doctor friend is possessed and loves cats and commits domestic terrorism. You have no control. You control everything.

it could be brilliant commentary abt a specific kind of immigrant/refugee class dynamic if it were addressed but as it is all we can do is ponder for ourselves the insane dynamic of aveline working for the very institution that refused your family legal entry into the city and would have shoved you on a boat right back across the sea and into the maws of the blight. and she believes in that institution. honest to god sees their work as good and righteous. and the work you did to claw your way in as rotten.
