I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That's one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

Kristen Dimercurio (curly hair) has been in several excellent fiction podcasts, probably best known for playing Dr. Sally Grissom, the lead of time-travel fiction podcast ars PARADOXICA, and Christine Anderson, one of the season 3 leads of horror podcast Archive 81. I've most recently heard her in The Harbingers, but she has a pretty extensive resume.

I think the initial script pass started out at 2-3 deaths? But somewhere in revisions I think I asked something like 'is it cool if I try coming up with a bunch of gruesome alt deaths (most of which were in the original podcast!) to make a really stupid joke about time passing/ mounting disasters using the GN chapter formatting' and the whole team was like 'yeah sure, go for it!' which is how we went from chapter 8 to chapter 108 to convey the many, many times the trio beefed it. and, coincidentally, why so many of these books end up longer than originally planned. Good collaborations are rare, and incredibly funny collaborations that are a treat to be a part of from start to finish are the rarest! A treasure!

i Spy treats to look out for: 'live, laugh, leave'; a non-potable fountain of acid; a sign that warns you exactly what's going to happen; a bunch of deaths from the podcast that we couldn't otherwise fit into the book.
