hello to my tumblr friends! i am getting top surgery finally! if you've been around this blog long enough you've seen the ups and downs of this journey, including getting close multi times, multiple upheavals, getting a breast reduction instead because of insurance reasons, and all the subsequent moves and life changes that brought me here. so i'm very excited that it's finally happening.

but i need to raise ~$800 to make it actually happen!

i'm over 1/3 of the way through my out-of-pocket maximum for my insurance, so if i can raise those funds, i hopefully won't have to sink further into debt for this surgery that i really really need right now.

i've been super fortunate in that my surgeon was able to schedule me way sooner than we were expecting: exactly three months to the day after my consultation. this is super exciting and in the long run will actually save me money because i do NOT usually have such good health insurance, nor do i ever have the privilege to be able to use it so much that things beyond this amount might actually be covered. but it is still... a lot of money for me. with not a lot of time to save it. i don't have family in my life, i'm trying to fly a friend down to help me out, i'm already in more debt than i'd like to admit, with zero savings, and right now im really stressed out about the endless phone calls and financial anxiety. cue sid:

my state doesn't have a viable top surgeon, so i'm having to travel for a week+ out of state (pre-op, surgery with one night hospital stay, and then at least 5 days monitoring until i get my drains out). luckily my current insurance supposedly also supports travel and lodging for gender affirming surgery (i'm waiting to hear back on how much it will cover), so right now i need $800 to reach my out-of-pocket max for my surgery + that travel support to kick in, + food and such for the week i'll be in a different city.
