Being AMAB is wild.
You spend the first 20 years of your life being emotionally neglected by female caretakers who don’t see you as fully human and then when you grow up full of entirely justified anger at this sexist system you’re told that it’s actually your fault, that you’re the Oppressor, that if you don’t like the rules of toxic masculinity you should blame yourself and/or other men. Even though the people who punished you for not following those rules were women.
this may be harsh but I believe everyone involved in this post should kill themselves
I am eight years old.
My favorite people are (and will remain for my whole life) girls — my teachers, my mom’s friends, my classmates. I don’t like to play with boys. Boys are generally dumb and they have boogers in their noses. A somber ring finger performs a gender examination in my nostril. When I play computer games in private, I choose a female character. When it feels safe, I enter a female name. “Kimberly” is one I like, because Kimberly is the pink power ranger.
When I ask to sleep over at my friends’ houses, I am told I am not allowed. Boys are not allowed. My friend Caitie’s mother argues about this on the phone with my mother. I realize my mother is not on my side.
Later, my mother tells me Caitie’s mother is divorced, has a tattoo, and sleeps on a waterbed, the relevance of which doesn’t seem clear. I think Caitie’s mother is cool.
I am nine years old.
I love everything my sister loves, but I will not admit it. I know she and her friends will make fun of me. I know my parents will chastise me and correct me. I am learning the rules, and I am learning that boys liking girl things is a very high stakes issue. I am learning that adults react the same way to my interest in makeup as they do to my interest in matches and lighters.
As if maybe, by being what I am, I might burn down something very important to them. Something that makes their life more comfortable and easy.

cis women enforcing patriarchy (gender roles) doesn’t mean women cause patriarchy. policement of gender will ALWAYS harm women & those born female more than they do ppl born male who live as men, because they are inherently misogynist. women being forced to be weak (feminine) will always harm women more than men will be harmed by always having to be strong (masculine). women being deluded into supporting patriarchy & gender roles will never mean that women are at fault and single handedly caused gender roles & gncphobia. please read right wing women by dworkin

So if a woman slaps her young son for wanting a pink toy, in order to teach him that pink is not a manly color, you think that the child is the one who is “at fault”, and not the abusive mother. You think that the abusive mother is the victim of misogynistic ideas like “pink is for girls”, and the child is her Oppressor. You think that the child, who is currently being slapped for wanting a pink toy, is benefiting from his mother’s belief that pink toys are only for girls. Correct?
dworkin
lmao
You think Dworkin was a terf, don’t you?
Not at all, I am well aware that Dworkin explicitly supported trans people and at one point even advocated for government healthcare covering HRT/SRS. That’s actually quite a useful, or at least entertaining, fact to know, seeing as most TERFs idolize Dworkin.
She was, however, a raging misandrist who is idolized by shitty people for a reason. That reason is that she’s directly responsible for feminism and the far right allying together against sex work. You can thank Dworkin for laying the groundwork for the right’s infiltration and appropriation of feminism.
Misandry does not exist and sex work is misogyny.

All this anecdote successfully proves is that society hates GNC people, including GNC males. Not that misandry exists. You were hated for being a feminine boy not for being male, whoop de shit me too!

Typo of the century
Got mistaken for a masochist when I said I wanted my dick destroyed. I'm just trans
Me: please obliterate my cock and balls
Surgeon: okay but can you phrase it differently
happy autistic girl thursday,,,, :3
it’s so funny to me that stoicism is largely seen as a very male and ‘macho’ virtue. being stoic and tight-lipped regarding one’s own suffering is one of the most womanly qualities i could possibly think of, and by far one of the least male.
i love you being trans i love you trans people i love you gender freaks i love you girly girls
This story reminds me of Lili Elbe.

why is this so funny
My view is that transwomen are transwomen (not men, but not like natal women), but this statement just.....isn’t the gotcha they seem to think it is.
Typo of the century
I’m not trying to be dismissive and act like transphobic women don’t exist and that we shouldn’t take them seriously, but the way terfs are made out to be the biggest threat to trans women just reeks of misogyny. Men are the primary perpetrators of violence against us, they build and rule transphobic societies, and they’re the main ones creating transphobic legislation, but the big boogeyman that we need to watch out for is terfs? I’ll see trans activists sooner blame terfs for the murders of trans women before they name real the issue, male violence. I’ve yet to meet a trans woman that’s been physically or sexually assaulted by a terf, but I’ve met plenty who’ve been victimized by men in this manner, including myself.
There’s also the fact that every transphobic woman gets labeled a terf, so people are quick to paint any trans antagonistic encounter involving a woman to be the doing of terfs, and this just further obscures the reality. I feel like this is just a tactic to not hold men accountable for the violence they perpetuate. I’ve seen cis male trans allies get physical and aggressive in the presence of terfs, and I have to wonder if they maintain the same energy when around transphobic men. This is why I’m increasingly seeing takes claiming that the root of transmisogyny in society is…misandry. Overall few women actually align with radical feminism and terfs don’t have nearly the amount of cultural relevance and power as they’re made out to do. It’s just baffling to me.
I just came across this article breaking down the role that intimate partner violence plays in the trans homicide rate, and it just reinforces my point that trans people and activists online really don’t spend enough time discussing male violence. It’s already established that being involved in prostitution significantly increases the likelihood of a trans woman ending up a victim of homicide, but this narrative that trans women are being murdered for simply stepping outside just erases the reality that it’s often someone they know that took their lives. Typically a male ex or current partner.
The Washington Post found that nearly half of transgender women killed between 2015 and 2020 died at the hands of an intimate partner. Louisiana had the highest number of killings of transgender women per capita of any state.
Thinking of that trans woman in Tennessee who was told she couldn’t get her sex changed on her driver’s license so she went topless outside to prove a point. She was charged with a crime that is only applicable to women, which was indecent exposure of female breasts. You see men in Tennessee are permitted to go outside shirtless without encountering any legal issues.
She was jailed for 23 days for a female specific charge after being told she would be recognized as a man by her state.
If this doesn’t perfectly capture the trans woman experience, I don’t know what does.
I don’t know if it’s possible for trans people ourselves to ‘peak’, but I had a moment the other day when I saw a friend had been posting to Instagram about attending a women’s gym, as a non-binary AMAB person, and how ‘freeing’ and ‘lightening’ and ‘validating’ it was. And it really didn’t sit right with me.
Even as a post-op trans woman, I would think very long and hard about attending a women’s gym. I know that even though I’ve been out for half my life, been medicated since I was 15, and that I had surgery last year, I’m still going to make other women uncomfortable if I’m in that space. It’s just basic respect.
If I, given all those specifics, can make the conscious choice not to use women’s spaces because of the impact I might have, why can’t this friend? And then it hit me: I’m not the same ‘trans generation’ as this person.
A lot of the people I know who have come out in the last four years, specifically NB and trans women, have expected women to make enormous accommodations to their own safety and comfort, to make space for transfem people, because ‘women are happy to do it’. Or at least, that seems to be the attitude.
Why is it always women that have to sacrifice comfort, safety, solidarity, for the sake of a handful of transfem people? It’s not like we can’t make trans spaces for ourselves.
I’m someone who supports transsexual integration, but people like this are so infuriating to me! TRAs will brand me as some sort of monster because I recognize the issue with someone who’s unambiguously male using women’s spaces. I don’t think an internal identity which has no impact on their material reality warrants this in the least bit.
This is what I find so off-putting about cissexual non-binary people a lot of the time. They believe that whatever feeling they have in their head actually has any impact on the real world, and it makes them entitled to do whatever they want because there aren’t actually any rules attributed to their identity. Of course 90% of this refers to non-binary amabs

Trans women in the 1950s
Artists of “Le Carrousel“. Among them, in the row in the middle: Capucine (the first from the left), April Ashley (then known as Tony April, the fourth from the left), Bambi (Marie-Pierre Pruvot, the second from the right) and Kiki Moustique (the first from the right).
