thinking about Postal 2 again. Specifically the whole toxic situationship that is Dude/Charlie. Charlie meets Dude, doesn't care, Dude keeps showing up, Charlie ends up catching feelings. Charlie already did some light drugs and drank occasionally but Dude introduces him to the harder stuff. They bond over it, and it quickly turns into a bad addiction. Charlie is torn between going into rehab because it's that bad/he doesn't want to die and leave his 8 junkyard dogs behind and having this fucked up situationship with a ginger haired bastard that has gotten him hooked on both harder drugs and something more like what Charlie presumes to be "love". From the way P2 Dude carved their initials into the side of Charlie's beer cooler to the makeout sessions to Avenged Sevenfold to even the more intimate one night stands in which there are many, Charlie thought it was love when it was nothing but a drug and booze fueled fire that was eventually gonna burn out. The answer should be obvious yeah, but Charlie's so far gone after a while where his anger and frustration towards life turns into a depressive hangover that he can't shake. So when Dude skedaddles after P2, Charlie goes into rehab/has someone watch his dogs. That depression from abusing drugs and alcohol would stick with him and he'd be probably closed off to any and all forms of affection like he used to be prior to Dude.
