how it feel to LOVE YOUR MUTUALS
This comment was left on a post about making the most of the Libby app. "Excessive use of generous lending policies" is the most absurd phrase I've ever seen anyone use to discuss libraries.
evergreen
looked up Heidi because I'm a journalist
for reasons I can't imagine this publisher of sexless Alaska love stories is averaging under 20 likes each on posts about her books, so if I can be so honest I kind of have my doubts that her books are getting read even with the excessive use of generous lending policies
Also her claim that authors are not getting paid per borrow is.... wrong. With ebooks (which is what she's talking about here with Libby) there are two forms of licensing for libraries to lend out ebooks.
The first kind is that they buy a license for a pre-determined amount of check-outs. I'll just make some numbers up for the sake of illustrating what that looks like: Let's say $20 for 20 borrows. When the ebook has been checked out 20 times, the library has to renew the license and pay more money in order to continue lending out the ebook. The author gets a cut of that $20 as their royalties.
The second kind is literally paying per borrow. (Again just making up numbers here) Let's say the library pays 50 cents every time the book is checked out. The author still gets a cut as their royalties. Is it just 10 or 20 cents per borrow? Yes, but that adds up! AND it means that people who otherwise wouldn't have been able to read my book at all are able to read it, which is great! AND it means that the library is thriving and being used, which is also great!
So yes, authors DO get paid from library activity!!!!!!
Do not feel guilty for using the library. I don't know one single author (except this Little Miss Ma'am in the screenshots, apparently) who would resent their readers for using libraries.
can we install a patch that makes it so mental health troubles stop giving you physical symptoms
ACCIDENTALLY LEFT MY MACERATED APPLE SYRUP ON THE STOVE AND IT CARAMELIZED I GUESS?
it was super thick and dark and golden and bubbly so i took it off the heat. happy accident.
tastes delicious so good. idk what to do with it though
thank you for your recommendation! with brief consideration, it has been disregarded.

i cant believe that there's still gamergate STANK on games that women enjoy. NASTY misogyny residue. stardew valley is in fact a video game. animal crossing is also a video game. so are otome games and dating sims and twee little cozy games. sometimes a bitch doesnt wanna play bloodborne that shit's hard
guys who mainly play 2k and fortnite will still be like oh youre not a real gamer for having 1000 hours in stardew. mother fucker you're larping as a basketball player
bruh, sometimes I get self conscious about whether I'm a "real" gamer when I go a week only playing Marvel Rivals, all cause of stupid shit gatekeepers said to me in high school about needing to beat games to be considered a "legit" gamer
Let's settle this once and for all:
Do you enjoy games? Do you enjoy playing them? Do you enjoy watching people play them? Do you like talking about them? Do you follow gaming news? Do you think about playing games?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then
You are a gamer.
I don't care what genre or platform you prefer, I don't care if you beat Dark Souls on your first try or are two years into BG3 and still haven't made it out of Act 1, I don't care if you are a daily marathoning player or sneaking 10 minutes between chores every couple days and supplementing with Let's Plays on in the background while working. If you engage with this art/entertainment form in someway, then you are valid.
Anyone wasting time gatekeeping isn't worth the attention
aromanticism is being EVIL! when my friends get bad partners I silently seethe because I know how it will end but I’m not going to be hurtful to my friend or push them away
gods yeah the amount of times i've tried to convince my friends (gently) to break up with a terrible partner...

I feel like starfish are one of those animals that are treated as very “normal” by people but absolutely shouldn’t be. Like they’re a wheel of repeating heads connected by a central stomach. They walk around using thousands of tiny sticky hydraulically powered tentacles. They have an eye on the end of each arm. Instead of having a mouth they just have an opening where their entire stomach can be pushed out to engulf prey. And they’re just allowed to exist like this. It’s not illegal or anything.
Mutual I wanna talk to you but I don't know what to say. I really like you and I enjoy our interactions I think you'd be an awesome person to be friends with in real life. Please do not attack me with a sledgehammer.

Pulitzer Prize type shit
Why's this dude built like crash bandicoot
Everything about this damn post is so funny to me. The lighting of the arm from the flash. The posing of the arm like a dramatic death from a novella. The fact the photo somehow got taken still and looks this good. The subreddit name. The fact this guy really is built like crash bandicoot
Have a stellar day ✨️
Something is missing from the debate over educationally suitable literature
absolutely hate it when the pleasurable activity procrastination hits. i’m going to do something fun that brings me joy but not yet. yeah, not yet. not yet. maybe i shouldn’t do it at all, it’s not that fun
*likes a character* okay now give them such a high fever they start deliriously rambling and spill all their secrets :D
