The problem with having OCs is that sometimes you wanna read about your little guy being in situations but unfortunately he is YOUR little guy and no one is gonna put him in that situation but you. Tragic.

As explained here, Section 230 is quite literally why we have free speech on the Internet. Without Section 230: .Indie websites and platforms, unable to pay for lawsuits or bear any other costs, will most likely be shut down.
.Indie shows, fanfiction, fandom content as a whole, and indie art and writing in general will be heavily sanitized or taken down. .If this leads to the deletion of content, BILLIONS of works of art, writing, videos and more will be lost. .Much much more will be caught in this ripple effect.
It will hit every Internet user of every background. The Internet as a whole will be affected. Millions of posts could be at stake However, THIS IS NOT A DOOM POST.
We cannot have panic or doom right now. That is the opposite of what we need. I encourage you to have hope. I say all this with urgency bc we need everyone to pay attention.
This is a serious issue. I know for many people, the Internet is the only escape they have when life gets too much. For many people, the Internet is the only space where they can find freedom, comfort, community and escapism. That is what is at stake. I've been hearing that offices are getting thousands of calls against KOSA. We need that same action on saving Section 230. Congress is back in action this month, and I'm hearing that a conference for KOSA and other Internet bills is tomorrow (not confirmed). But call whenever you can, as soon as you can!

here's screencaps of the scripts if anyone wants to use them. I recommend putting them in your own words and shortening them. lawmakers have every email and phone call logged by the issue. you don't have to give them a big long rationale, they are just looking at how many people are opposed/in support and they weigh the numbers. supposedly calls are more effective than email, but if you're gonna email, don't use the scripts word for word. Make them a little unique/personal if you can. if you're gonna call and you don't want to talk to a human, you can call at night and leave a message. make sure you tell them where you live and let them know you do not want a response from them (otherwise they might send you a written letter in response and personally I'd rather not have my taxpayer dollars go towards getting a canned response from them when I want them to hear from ME).

A motion is currently being considered to repeal Section 230, which - in laymans terms - keeps websites from being sued for things their users say, and allows us to actually participate online.
So if it's removed, goodbye to all of that. Any website can be sued for any negative action on its users part - even if that user is JUST. ONE. PERSON. Even if the website is trying to deal with it, and is clearly against it.
This is not a method of defense against technology companies that Senator Whitehouse (yes, really. I checked, that's his name) is proposing. It's the death sentence of the current internet.
It's only being proposed for now, but still.
