Gaza is experiencing deliberate starvation at the hands of Isreal and the US. People are dying just trying to get a box of food.
Imagine living in that situation, combined with the humiliating and degrading conditions of the past 20+ months, your home being destroyed, and being deprived of the most basic needs.
We live in a world where knowing you will be alive tomorrow is a privilege, and Mai ( @maimabuhamda ) and her family do not share this privledge. They live in Gaza, where people are murdered daily for just existing.
And imagine on top of all your daily suffering, you rely on a fundraiser and you work very hard on social media to make connections and collect donations. But you were scammed of your hard work and most importantly, your lifeline. This is Mai's reality.
Mai has started a new campaign, they have only raised $10 as I write this. This is inhumane, food in Gaza can cost upwards of $700, they need much more daily donations to survive in Gaza and keep up with the cost of living, especially with no income.

" My mother was already sick before the war. She has severe heart problems and had a life-saving device implanted just two weeks before the bombing began. That device is now failing, and Iβm watching her health get worse every day, knowing I canβt afford the treatment that could save her.
My younger brother was injured in a brutal attack. His hand was torn apart by shrapnel β he needed over 80 stitches and still requires physical therapy to be able to use it again.
And me? Iβm exhausted. Not just from the war, the hunger, the fear β but from screaming into a world that doesnβt seem to hear me. "

Look, this is my litmus test: I pretend I am the original Earl of Sandwich. I have asked for non-bread foods to be brought to me inside bread, that I might more easily consume them one-handed while gambling.
This does not enable my wretched regency habits. This is not what I asked for. I do not deign to grace it with the name of my house.
so iβve eliminated my phone from the βstaying up all nightβ equation by getting an alarm clock and charging said phone in another room, but this resulted in a second, secret problem of staying up too late drawing because i still had my tablet. i donβt wanna move my tablet to another room as well because i like having a little bit of drawing time before bed so for about a week i was likeβ¦.. oh iβll just force myself off at the correct time eventually. one of these days that will happen.
but last night realized i'm never gonna just gain the willpower to curb my bad habits at random, thatβs the entire reason i took the phone out of the room, so i just. set my tablet to turn completely greyscale from 12:30am to 8am to prevent me from staying up all night drawing. and guess who actually fucking went to bed the second his tablet turned grey.
moral of the story and a lesson i think everyone can take from this is donβt expect yourself to just get over your bad habits through sheer force of will. it wonβt fucking happen. instead make them as annoying as possible to continue. make them completely unsatisfying. sabotage your bad habits.

Yeah. I once made a post in which I complained about being frustrated at my brain, and one of the things I said was:
βI should not be struggling this much to do things that I want to do and have the time, space, energy, and skills to do.
Actually, when I list it all out like that, I should not be struggling at all to do those kinds of tasks.β
