another post i've seen here mentioned that when kisuke's zanpakuto is in its concealed form (the cane) rather than his awakened zanpakuto. this is another interesting detail, and i wonder if this connects to him achieving his bankai in three days? to show a sort of disconnect, maybe, with benihime? or am i reaching?

So yah it just means he used it a long time ago, pre exile🤷‍♂️ but still um.. for him to say he used it just out of curiosity is maybe a bit of a white lie on his part then, if he truthfully needed it to become captain (and sure, u could say that this early in, Kubo probably hadn't figured out exactly what he wanted to do for Kisuke's past, so it's just a 'don't think too hard about it' thing.. but thinking too hard about Bleach is like. a good 60% of my personality)..
