The Gentleman
A Simple Explanation
There’s a suave elegance
about my intellect when I talk about my intelligence
but sometimes in the presence of hypothetical presidents
they feel the need to share their philosophy
tell me they don’t like what I’m telling them
yet, I don’t crumble in humility
I find the whole situation to be humorous to me
they look at it as crumbling
because I break down and start laughing
like I’m having a psychopathic meltdown or something
but in truth some things are just funny
in the end a poetic justice has to come untucked
from the bunkers of a lovely conformity
in order to evolve and seek a more perfect piece
to be written on paper in delicately harmonized ink
stroke after stroke
the art of meaning and rhyme appropriate to each line
that’s the only way the story is to be told
purpose to sanction the perplexity of how the tale unfolds
so sit back and listen
please hold on
I promise the end will be gold...
