Here it is! My final video! I think it ended up pretty entertaining, hopefully it’s good enough for the teachers as well!

I added the same three effects to all the clips I made (5 in total). I would post all of these on the blog but it would just be spammed. So I’ll post one of the effects from each animation above (excluding the Matic clip I posted earlier on)

Firstly, for some weird reason my video files disappeared - I would open the project and it would say the video file is missing, I don’t know where they went. So I had to re-download them and replace the footage. Secondly, my standard aep files were not up-to-date, I would open the file and find I’m much further back than I really am. It turns out that the latest auto-save file is where I’m up to, but it was still annoying. Thirdly, once I finally began working, I realised how slow After Effects is once again, the Ozil clip was taking way too long to render between strokes, and the roto-brush was acting up for the Saurez clip. The Saurez clip has 5 characters and a goal post in the clip, which is annoying when using a roto-brush, because it keeps thinking everything is attached when it’s not. I ended the day just rendering the half-finished animations (although the Ozil clip is probably 3/4 of the way there while the Saurez clip is about 1/4 of the way). I think it’s up to my editing skills to create a good video.

I haven’t been able to go into uni for the past few days and I can only go in today (Wednesday). I don’t think I’ll be able to finish the Ozil and Saurez clips so I’m going to use the clips with half animation/half real clip. I’ll do a bit of work on them while I’m there and I’ll add effects using photoshop to the other two clips I made. Hopefully the final project will be good enough - this depends on the editing in my opinion. 

Pirlo’s chip penalty goal without effects

Today I worked all day and completed a short animation for the Pirlo clip (below). I may give up on the two Saurez and Ozil clips, as I’ve realised how much faster it is to develop short clips with minimal characters. I may use editing skills to go half animation/half clip with the other two. 

While I’m at home and can’t work on my Ozil or Saurez clips I might animate this short clip.

I decided to go into uni today and work on my animation, only to find after 20 minutes that I had to leave - requested by a construction worker. I waited for a while but I couldn’t go back in, I’m not sure what they were doing. So I went home and downloaded the trial version of After Effects. As I didn’t have my files from the lab, I created a new animation for the Messi nutmeg (which I’ve linked lower down). I finished this animation but found many problems with the rendering - the file size is really big. Despite being the shortest clip I’ve done (a few seconds), when I rendered it in After Effects it ended up being 895MB. When I play this back it’s really slow and laggy, despite the clip length. So I’m not too sure what to do, when I add it to movie maker it’s still really laggy. I might email Lucien about this today. 

Unfortunately due to classes being on, and because my work is solely on my regular mac, was I only able to fit in 2 hours of work today (25/05/2017) instead of tomorrow’s lesson - which I can’t attend. I progressed a bit with the third clip but I realised that the players cross over eachother lots during the clip, meaning that I have to animate each of them from the beginning (I could do prediction animation but this is often unaccurate). Additionally, I realised I have to animate about 5 players for the whole duration. This clip is going to take a lot longer than expected and I just hope I can finish this along with the Ozil clip in time.
