The scammer initially tried to scare me by telling me that they were scammed by an impersonator and reported my account. They also said they had their friends report me. The email they showed me said my account would be shut down within 24 hours and that I should contact Tumblr support, but also that I was not contacted due to the high number of reports.

RED FLAGS: Why was I not notified by Tumblr support? Why did this user report my account instead of the account messaging them? Why is Tumblr support a guy called Xavier on Discord?

MORE RED FLAGS: This user had no likes, was following nobody, and their reblogs consisted of the exact same tag all the way down. This is a new account pretending to be a regular user.

I reached out to 'Tumblr support' on discord and provided the screenshot. I was asked my username, date of birth, and country the account was created in. My username was already known to them, but I lied about everything else. NEVER GIVE UP THIS INFORMATION TO A SCAMMER. He then explained to me the next steps.

RED FLAGS: Who the fuck is Xavier. Why did he act like my fake date of birth and country was confirmation that I owned the account? Why does Tumblr support need me to change my account email in order for them to resolve a report?

Tumblr support will NEVER ask you to change your email like this. I called him on his shit and was told my account will be deleted within 24 hours. I was also told the federal authorities would be monitoring the conversation and would be notified since I did not comply. These are all pressure tactics meant to make you panic.

I called him babygirl and he blocked me.

Scambaiting is fun, but if you're going to do it know how to do it safely. Never give out real information, and never click links.

Be aware of how to spot scammers. I've seen a LOT going around, although this is a new one for me. Normally I get commission scams (which sucks, as I wish I could do more commissions but 90% of what I get is cheque scams) and pig butchering, which is 'wrong numbers' to 'let's be friends' to 'buy my crypto'.
