I can't be normal about them. I've planned so much with their relationship that I can't wait to share. Both are adults here! This happens when both are in their twenties.

I had the picture done back in June, but I wanted to get the story bit written first before sharing it and then changed my mind. Then Artfight happened and I got busy with that instead.

Only reason why I'm sharing it without the story is because I'm a fucking slow writer and don't want to put it off any longer.

I think their horns are made of keratin, but have an interior composition similar to hooves instead of a boney core with a keratin cover like most Earth animal horns. It explains the clean breaks we have seen in the horns where the interior is solid and smooth. It explains how there appears to be a very minimal rooting structure so most of the horns can be removed and will grow back over time (while the keratin can be cut or filled in some animal's horns, it's only because the bone interior doesn't extend to the length of the keratin cover). It still explains having a natural terminating point while also having a natural curve or bend as the keratin ages. The root can also be responding uniquely to weight, so a growth pattern appears with a significant bend once the horns become sufficiently heavy. For comparison a horse hoof, for example, has a pedal bone that is covered in corium from where the hoof is grown. There is a bone in that it is the end of the horse's foot, but there's not a dedicated hoof bone around which the keratin grows in the same way as horns do. This might also more easily explain why a Dathomir Zabrak might have their horn growth be affected by their connection to the dark side, if their horns are not actually boney or tooth like and instead mostly keratin and constantly growing anyway.
