i need you to understand that when i talk about medical fatphobia (or fatphobia in general) i am especially talking about the fattest person you could ever fucking imagine. yes i am also talking about small fat people and âchubbyâ people. but i am ESPECIALLY talking about people who are so fat they canât take care of themselves, who canât walk, who canât take care of hygiene independently, who do nothing but sit/lie down all day and eat.
you need to get in your head that these fat people are human too, who are deserving of good healthcare. if you only support people who are a little fat or if your support is conditional based on weight and peoples efforts to lose weight or not, itâs not support. itâs eugenics.

In regards to âlove loses,â I think itâs important to look at the context. It is clearly meant in opposition to âlove winsâ the slogan of the movement for gay marriage in the US. When same-sex marriage was made legal in the entire country, a lot of people saw that as the final battle for gay acceptance. I have been told, in person, that since gay people can get married, trans people arenât being oppressed. It sounds absurd written out, but people do think that way. The slogan of âlove winsâ encompassing the entire queer community leaves out trans people, aro/ace people, and even queer issues that arenât related to (romantic) love. Not to mention that disabled people still donât have access to equal marriage rights here. âLove losesâ doesnât just mean âI hate love,â it means âthe prioritization of validating queer love through its proximity to the institution of marriage literally excludes vast swaths of the community.â

literally ok so not a funny story but kind of funny? when I was nine I encountered rape in a book and I was like hey mom whatâs this mean and she explained it and I was like oh. gross. and then like two weeks later a girl on the bus abruptly disclosed her csa and we were all like ????? what ???? but I was like wait hang on thereâs a word for that âď¸đ¤Â and explained what it meant and that it was illegal and that you could talk to a teacher or my mom if it had happened to you and everyone was like ohhhhh I see I see and very somberly comforted the girl (she was safe she was removed from her home and living with my neighbor at the time so it wasnât Urgent)
And this is a perfect illustration of why it is important for kids to read or variety of things, and why abusers donât want them to.
In today's linguistics class we talked about metaphors, and we really want two of the ones we talked about to become conventionalised.
So first of all this one girl told us about a newer metaphor in Russian, "I have paws", which is something you say when you don't really want to do something, so you say you're incapable of doing it since you have paws instead of hands. Like, "hey, finish that report" "aw but I have paws :(" and I think that's adorable. It's like "I'm just a girl" but for animals.
We also had the task to invent a novel metaphor and have the others guess what it means, and the teacher really liked my "she's such a capybara" = "everyone loves her". Capybara energy is like golden retriever energy except you're chill about it. You're just vibing and everyone digs that.
Anyway I think these deserve to become more common in English
