Cosmos "Kamika's Flower" Violet

In all honesty, Kamika doesn’t know why she is so nervous about this date.

Her hair looks perfectly fine, not a strand out of place. She has a nice dress on and comfortable shoes. She even made a little effort with her makeup. On top on that, it’s not like she’s meeting with a complete stranger, since it’s Cosmos, and they’ve been friends for enough time now, for her to be completely at ease with the girl.

So really, there’s nothing to worry about.

Except that she has this weird lump in her throat, and she feels like she might faint at any minute.

It’s completely ridiculous. She is Kamika, a member of the Garou Knights. She can totally do this.

She’s sitting at the table in this new restaurant in town and Kamika is playing nervously with the fork that was previously set next to the empty plate in front of her. She’s been here for ten minutes, and she knows she was here earlier than what they agreed on, but she feels a little more anxious each time the door opens and it’s not Cosmos making her way towards their table.

For all her life, not once had she has hesitated about something; she never had second thoughts, never doubted herself on anything. But right now, she feels as vulnerable as a child could be. Because she might be brave and fearless but she’s not here because she’s going to confront an enemy, she is here because she got asked on a date by the woman she loves. And she is so afraid to mess everything up.

Cosmos is probably the only positive thing she has in her life. The girls were always by each other’s side, fighting together and protecting each other. Their trust in the other would put anything else in shame.

It’s a beautiful thing but a scary one too because she doesn’t know what she will do with herself if none of this works out. If it turns out that one of them decides it’s not worth the pain. She knows that things will never be the same.

And it’s terrifying.

“I’m sorry, I got lost on my way here, I hope I didn’t make you wait too long.”

Kamika lifts her eyes and meets with the bright smile that Cosmos is offering her.

She suddenly feels a little stupid for worrying this much. This is Cosmos, everything is always a little easier with her.

“It’s okay, don’t worry,” she answers softly, a gentle smile forming on her lips as Cosmos takes the seat in front of her.

The dinner went smoothly without any incident. After only a few minutes, Kamika forgot about her doubts and worries and Cosmos held most of the conversation. It was pleasant, warm and comfortable. They laughed and held hands like it was something natural between them and Kamika had never felt this happy before.

They were currently walking side by side, hands brushing against the other until Kamika finally gives in and slides their fingers together.

“Would you like to go to the park with me? If you’re not too tired. I don’t feel like going home yet” Cosmos asks, voice gentle as she perks her head towards Kamika.

“Oh, I would love spending a little more time with you, of course.”

They make their way towards the park where they decide to sit on the bench from where they could see a fountain. There are not a lot of people since it’s the night, so they can fully enjoy the view.

But Kamika’s attention doesn’t stay long on the fountain as she lets her eyes fall on the girl next to her. Her pink hair is moving gently as she moves her head while talking. Her eyes are shining brightly as she turns her gaze towards Kamika once in a while to make sure she still has her attention. It’s endearing, really.

And Kamika is so gone for that girl.

“Cosmos.”

She knows she’s interrupting the pink-haired girl, and that she should feel guilty about it, but when Cosmos turns her eyes back on her, Kamika doesn’t think too much about it as she leans to press a kiss on the other girl’s lips.

It doesn’t last long; it’s just lips on lips but it’s sweet and everything that Kamika has ever wanted.

When they part away, Cosmos has this gentle look on her face as she brings her hand towards Kamika’s cheek, giving her a little caress.

“Would you go on another date with me?” The brunette asks.

Cosmos laughs a little as she steals another kiss from the girl.

“I would love to,” she answers.

There was really no use to feel that nervous, Kamika thinks, everything is always easy with her.

Cosmos x Kamika - First Date

Maybe they were just two friends, out for a meal and a drink and a good time, or maybe there was more to this. Maybe the stir in Cosmos’ stomach was not just a simple pleasantry at getting to spend time with Kamika, but something deeper, more intimate.

Kamika tucked stray hair behind her ears, eyes cast up to the sky, tracing the stars which reside there, and Cosmos could not help herself.

“Beautiful.” She whispered, and Kamika focused her gaze back onto the other woman.

Kamika was known for her challenging smirk, but now her lips were turned up into a soft smile, warm and inviting and theirs. Cosmos was grateful that Kamika was willing to share this warmer side with her, and that was when it became clear; she was in love. It hit hard and fast, a meteorite ricocheting from her world and shattering everything which Cosmos knew to be true. Kamika did not seem to be having the same problem. Her lashes were wet when she reached across the table and took Cosmos’s hand in her own.

“If only we could stay like this.” Kamika sighed, and Cosmos hummed her agreement.

“Aaugh!” said Zarya. “Is this another one of your princess things?”

The Spectral Hand had been defeated weeks ago and life in Drake City had returned to normal, more or less. Zarya, however, was still having a hard time getting used to the role of a princess. She was not used to living a schedule that was decided by someone else.

“Yes,” said Arkayna. “It’s important for you to get out and do ‘princess things’ now and then. After all, you are a princess too.”

“But the Zoo?”

“It’s a new exhibit. A very rare animal. And as princesses, we get a sneak peak before it goes public.”

“Is that why we’re here after hours?”

Arkayna hid a smile. Zarya had no idea what she had planned and she was loving it.

“That’s right,” she said.

“Fine. But for the record, I would have preferred to stay home and–”

“Mope?” interrupted Arkayna. She stopped walking and turned to face her sister. “Zarya, I know you try to hide it, but I also know you miss Kitty. I know it’s been weeks but I’m positive she’ll be back soon. Until then, if you focused on your princess duties as much as our Mysticons mission, I bet the time would fly by.”

Zarya was quiet, not wanting to admit her feelings, even to her sister.

“Now, come on. We’re almost there.” Arkayna tugged Zarya’s arm.

“Hey, how come we’re moving away from the animal enclosures and towards the gazebo? What kind of creature is this anyway?” She could just make out someone waiting under the gazebo.

Arkayna stifled a laugh.

“Like I said, it’s a very rare breed. I think you’ll like this one though: it’s a cat…from the astral plane.”

“A cat from…you don’t mean…”

“Hey, Z-star,” said Kitty, stepping out of the gazebo.

“Kitty!” yelled Zarya, running up and engulfing her in a hug. “When did you get back?”

“She just got back today,” said Arkayna. “You were out when she returned and I was there so…I threw a little something together for you two. And now, I think I have other princess things to do.” She turned to leave but leaned close to Zarya and whispered, “You can thank me later, sis.”

“Oh man, Kitty, I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve been having to do all this princess stuff and it’s soooo boring! Hey, we should go…uh…Kitty?”

Kitty was just smiling at Zarya. There was look in her eye that Zarya had not seen before.

“You know, while I was gone, I thought of two things,” she held Zarya’s hand. “First, I was thinking…I don’t ever want to be away from you like that again. I…I missed you, Z.”

“I missed you too, Kitty. And what was the other thing?”

Kitty grabbed Zarya’s jacket, pulling her close and kissing her deeply. It was short but intense and Zarya could feel it all the way to her toes.

“I was thinking I should have done that a long time ago. And definitely before I left.”

“Yeah, you should have,” said Zarya, playfully.
