i like your blog. i like birds. personal favorite corvid is the blue jay or perhaps the white throated jay or the hooded pitohui
they are very pretty birds,, i did have to look them up for this as i dont know much about species that arent my own but!! happy to meet a fellow bird enjoyer
I TAKE IT BACK HOODED PITOHUI IS NOT A CORVID . it was thought to be a corvid but its closer related to the orioles . it is the only bird that produces its own poison though which is cool
It's funny how the hashtags give away how tma/tme are used the way AMAB/AFAB are used, which is to create a bullshit exclusionary binary.
'How can I make my conservative aversion to any visual nonconformity sound woke?'
I wish I could join in on shitting on this transmisogynistic loser, but it was immediately followed by a call for transmasc genocide so...

What does OOP think happens to those seen as "confused women" by bigots? Conversion therapy, "corrective" rape, forced detransition (through pregnancy in many cases,) I don't think it's appropriate to compare and contrast the methods of trans genocide different trans people are being subjected to as though one were discussing powerscaling of fictional characters. It's sickening how the hyperinvisibility of trans men and transmasc people leads to their oppression to being discussed like some detached theoretical hypothetical situation, and it's fucked up how easily people wield the often intimate violence other members of their community who they ought to be showing compassion and sensitivity towards as a gotcha for an online argument. I don't think wielding our siblings' trauma as 'proof' of suffering is a healthy practice to encourage. If anything, I worry that it'll make surviving seem even more impossible to the trans people who rely on online community to survive if every day on here's another suffering contest.
hey do you believe this fr or

Average "transfeminist" on Tumblr:
"Nooo, only trans women and transfems can be affected by transmisogyny! Anyone else is TME!!!!!!"
Average "transandrobro" on Tumblr:
"Yeah, literally anyone can be impacted by transandrophobia if they're perceived as a trans man or transmasculine. Under our cisnormative patriarchy everyone can be impacted by transphobia. Nobody is immune."

X โtrans men MUST have male privilege because cis men have male privilege. If you say trans men DONโT have male privilege then you must not see trans men as real men!โ
-defines manhood through a cissexist framework and tries to force trans menโs experiences to fit within that framework. denies the manhood of any trans man whose experiences cannot be easily mapped onto cis men.
โ โtrans men ARE real men, but they are not granted systemic access to male privilege, and whatever benefits individual trans men ARE able to access are limited and highly conditional. We should expand our understanding of men/masculinity to better account for their unique experiences.โ
-acknowledges trans men as men first and foremost. accounts for the material reality of trans menโs experiences and expands our understanding of manhood accordingly.
A large portion of the trans community not being allowed in trans spaces, genius idea, really! /S
This comment was left on a post about making the most of the Libby app. "Excessive use of generous lending policies" is the most absurd phrase I've ever seen anyone use to discuss libraries.

Making women up like it's a job
One of my favorite things about having a degree in biochemistry is going undercover at a store like Sephora. I can read the composition of the cosmetics and actually understand them. Thereโs no words to describe how great it feels. Itโs like being in on an inside joke or secret
The main thing I observe is that a lot of employees recommend makeup that is chemically incompatible. For example, if you ask them to recommend you a foundation and concealer, a lot of times theyโll pick two products that are chemically immiscible, so theyโll NEVER blend together successfully.
Generally foundation/concealer is either water or silicone based. There are upsides to each based on your needs. However, water and silicone are immiscible, and so if your foundation is water based but your concealer is silicone based, you will never get a good blend between these products. Youโll have to go back to switch to something that works.
If you want to test for this in-store, mix the two on the back of your hand. If they form a uniform mixture, theyโre miscible. If they separate, theyโre chemically incompatible, and should not be used together. You can do this for any number of skin products. Primers, moisturizers, foundations, concealers, contour sticks, etc etc. Anything that comes in liquid or paste form.
You donโt need to understand all the chemicals on the label to run this experiment!
As someone in pharmaceutical sciences I also experience similar things, so a hint from me: collagen is useless. In a cream it will not penetrate the skin, so doesn't do anything. As a food supplement, lemme tell you a secret: collagen is a protein. And when you eat protein, your stomach thinks its food and chops it up, so it can be used to make your own protein. Collagen is just expensive protein powder, and doesn't do anything meat or a veggie substitute does.
As a cook, lemme tell you a thing about collagen. That's marshmallows :3 No, like, seriously, gelatin is gotten by breaking down collagen. Collagen is what melts away and then gels up again inside of steaks that makes the difference between a tough and a juicy steak. The connective tissue needs to break down to release the collagen, the collagen needs to break down, and then reform inside the steak as gelatin, (that's when the steak reabsorbs the juices), and that gel matrix inside the steak keeping the fibers separate is what makes for a good bite. That collagen further breaking down and then caramellizing is what makes for the crispy, tasty, outer shell of a well-done or chicago style steak. There's lots of it in knuckles and joints, and traditionally, that's where we get gelatin from. Boil the knuckles to extract the collagen, and now you can make aspic! Or, mix the jelly with an italian meringue, (hot sugar syrup and egg whites blended together real good), and you're able to solidify and stabilize the meringue at room temperature without drying out, thus keeping bouncy. And that's marshmallows. Gelatin is also jello and other gelatin things. Like home-style soft-serve! In terms of nutrition, you body would break down collagen into the constituent parts the same as gelatin, so they have identical nutritional profiles. So everytime someone says eating collagen is good, imagine eating marshmallows :) But also, marshmallows are actually a legit source of protein, which is why many protein bars are marshmallow bars with "gelatin" or "collagen" right near the top of the ingredient list. Just because something tastes good doesn't mean it's not good for you :) But it's not, like, magically special or anything.
