Color Puddles of Babble.
I'll be appearing at the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books this Friday & Saturday, November 7-8, including a Saturday panel entitled "A Picture Is Worth…" all about comics, with #RichKoslowski & #CrisSiqueira, moderated by #SueKalinka. More info at https://sewibookfest.com
Chicagoland! Saturday, July 26! Come watch / listen to me present a shown-n-tell about the history of pop-up / movable books at Hive Center for the Book Arts in Evanston, 1-3pm. I'll be bringing some amazing examples, old and new, small and large. One is over 10-feet long - we can only show part of it due to space limitations! Please come check it out!
I found out today from cartoonist and academic friend Martha Kuhlman that my pop-up book HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! is currently featured in an exhibit, Comic books as livres-objets, at the Comics Art Museum in Brussels! This is a huge honor for me, as I love this museum dearly. To have my work recognized and featured there is not even a dream come true, because I wouldn't have dared to dream it!

In 115, paper engineer Gene Kannenberg, Jr., is here to talk about his new book "Here Comes Charlie Brown: A Peanuts Pop-Up". Don't know wha
The latest episode of It's a Podcast, Charlie Brown features a lengthy interview with me concerning, what else, HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! A PEANUTS POP-UP. My thanks to host Bill Pepper for the invite and the thoughtful questions and conversation.
Event in Evanston, IL by Comix Revolution Evanston and Gene Kannenberg Jr on Saturday, April 6 2024
I'll be interviewed by wildly entertaining cartoonist Rich Sparks then signing copies of HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! at 3pm on Saturday, April 6 at Comix Revolution in Evanston, IL. Hope to see you there!
It's a three-peat for me at Jason DeHart's Words, Images & Worlds podcast, this time focusing on HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! Lots and lots of talk about PEANUTS and some chat about movable books, plus a bonus bit of Steve Ditko, as well as that one time back in 2001 when the Second Lady of the United States questioned my sanity. All this and more in the video above. Thanks yet again, Jason!
Review by C.J. Bunce October 2, 1950. If you’re a fan of comics and you had a time ship, you’d want to consider this important date in the
Here's a very thoughtful piece on HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! The author clearly spent a lot of time with the book, which I really appreciate. My only quibble: The Patty in this book does not become Peppermint Patty--but that's getting deep into the Peanuts weeds in an otherwise wonderful review.
Here Comes Charlie Brown, as you've never seen him before.
My thanks to The Shelley Irwin Show (WGVU, Grand Rapids NPR) for featuring an interview with me on February 7 about HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! A PEANUTS POP-UP (coming to stores March 26 from Abrams ComicArts!). They were kind enough to offer the eight-minute piece as a stand-alone segment, which you can listen to by clicking the graphic above.

I'm now a two-timer at Jason DeHart's Worlds, Images, & Worlds! "Dr. Gene Kannenberg, Jr. joins the podcast for a second chat. This time, we talk about the cultural impact of comics grammar, the very much alive world of print innovations, and Dr. Kannenberg's work with the Herskovits Library of African Studies at Northwestern [University]."
Wow! The website "Beautiful Books" lists HERE COMES CHARLIE BROWN! under "Beautiful Upcoming Pop-Up Books"! (I took the liberty of correcting the release date on their graphic.)
