The ultimate workplace flex, circa 1970s.
Imagine sweating away over a stove at the Manor Hotel kitchen in Somerset, only to receive a postcard from your colleague Sarah that reads:
"The Sun Shines - 90°F!!!! - life is quite pleasant - no hot kitchens!!!"
Sarah skipped town for Miesbach, Upper Bavaria, and she wasn't about to let Chef, Paul, and Alec forget it. The front of her postcard is a beautiful multi-view layout featuring classic Bavarian architecture, vintage VW Beetles parked at the Marktplatz, and the deep blue waters of Schliersee and Tegernsee.
Pour yourself a cold one and read the full breakdown of Sarah's sun-drenched Bavarian getaway over on the blog: 👉 Postcard Postscripts: Wish You Were Here: A Sun-Drenched Escape to Miesbach, Upper Bavaria
Postcard Postscripts: Exploring Akroyd Park, Halifax through a Vintage Lens
There is something deeply comforting about the hyper-specific aesthetics of early 20th-century colorized postcards. The slightly oversaturated greens, the hand-tinted skies, and the quiet stillness of a moment frozen in time.
This particular piece of ephemera takes us straight to Akroyd Park in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Look closely at the front: the vintage fountain structure, the figures in mid-century attire strolling along the path, and that mysterious, striking blue ink date stamped or written right into the sky: 27.10.47.)
Flip it over, and it's a completely blank slate. Published as part of "The Lion Series" and "Printed in Bavaria" (a massive hub for high-quality postcard printing before the world wars disrupted trade), the reverse reminds us how interconnected global printing history used to be.
We're doing a deep dive into the history of the park, the architectural details hidden in the background, and the context of this postcard's survival.

The Church That Refused to Fall Down 🪨✨
Forget the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If you want real architectural drama, look no further than the Black Mountains of Wales.
This is St. Martin’s Church in Cwmyoy, widely considered the most twisted and crooked church in Britain. Built on a shifting hillside, centuries of slow-moving landslides have warped, tilted, and bent the stone walls into impossible angles. Inside and out, it looks like a optical illusion captured in stone.
We’re exploring the stories behind this resilient holy site in our newest piece over at Postcard Postscripts. The images above feature a beautiful vintage postcard showcasing its dramatic tilt and the classic Litone publishing mark on the back.
If you love eerie landscapes, geological oddities, and deep history, you won't want to miss this one.

Postcard Postscripts: A Glimpse of 1960s Southsea: A Postcard Journey to the Solent
There is something so beautifully intimate about reading the casual thoughts of people from decades ago.
The front of this vintage card gives us a beautifully crisp, monochromatic look at a bustling Southsea—complete with the Rock Gardens, the Miniature Railway, and the Canoe Lake.
But the back is pure gold. Sent to a Mr. & Mrs. F. C. Plant in Birmingham on a dull but dry Thursday in 1960, Jean and Clive recount their day catching glimpses of royalty (the Royal Yacht Britannia) and eating lunch at the Hotel Parisien. They concluded their update with the ultimate roast of the local demographic: "P.S. We have not seen anyone here under about 60 today."
The petty elegance of a 1960s postcard postscript. We have no choice but to stan.

Uncovering the Timeless Grandeur of Versailles ✨
There is something deeply mesmerizing about an unwritten vintage postcard. It holds a slice of time perfectly preserved, waiting for a message that never came.
This particular find is a gorgeous tinted Carte Postale showcasing the striking front facade of the Palace of Versailles (Façade du Château). Produced locally by Edition Cossé, 9, rue Colbert, Versailles, the back remains completely blank, leaving us to wonder about the traveler who purchased it.
Whether you are a fan of French history, an avid ephemera collector, or simply captivated by the Sun King's legacy, you'll love diving into the history behind this piece.
