Ruins and Grimm

This here. This makes me think Neo could likely be a reference to the Mad Hatter. That was the first thought I had. Now, here comes my theory. If this is a land where the dead reside (possibly) my theory is that each shadow figure behind Neo is a person from her past. Why do I think that? Those two silhouettes reminded me of something.

I think the two figures on her left and her right are her parents and each other figure is someone from her past. Now who could possibly be the figure directly behind her that is extremely obscured?

So, with her semblance upgrade, it's clear she can make clones. These clones can take different forms. These clones can TALK. That's a big take away for me. So I'm less thinking it'll be dead visages, but clones with dedicated roles. Living vicariously through these clones. Allowing her to see faces she hasn't seen since their deaths.
