orion spent, maybe, 4-5 hours shuffling through her closet for an outfit that would suffice for the evening that was planned ahead. orion contemplating leaving once she approached his door and she had stood there for a while before giving him the idea she was there. although the thought had been there, the nerves that had ran up and down her back washed away as soon as his presence was there to neutralize. she greeted him with a hug that only lingered seconds after, her stomach churned at the thought of them spending the evening together. it was stepping into a new chapter for them; not like their occasional hangouts that ended in takeout and poking fun at one another and there was no further thought given to it. a fantasy turned reality, not one that she would ever imagine turning into a reality. “what are we doing?” her tone is sing-song, “you were cryptic for the last few days.” orion keeps her gaze eye level with him. “do we have a fancy chef cooking for us?” she follows him through the house, listening in on his banter but she couldn’t exactly focus in on what he was saying completely - she was in a daze, this only felt unreal with every step that she took towards the back patio. though she had been in this house a week ago, it felt different. as she steps outside she was welcomed with a display of mixed foods and decor, her eyes scan the area, making sure not to miss a detail he curated before glancing up at him, “a picnic?” she uses a single digit to bring his face to hers only to place quick kiss on his lips, pulling back slightly to meet his look with a softened expression; orion’s heart fluttered against her chest at his notion, “for me?” she repeats quietly, turning her gaze back to the set up. she didn’t make a single movement as she was fixated on the gesture from him. // @cloudyfm
the day had gone by in a blur , barely focused enough to do anything besides make sure that what he set out for her would be perfect . maybe it was cliché , cheesy even , but more than a small part of him felt like he had to make up the last four years in one night . it was his way of making sure they were okay even after everything that had happened between them . more so than anything , it would have been a lie for him to say he hadn’t replayed their almosts from when she stayed with him - it was enough to make it nearly impossible to shake the anxiety he felt now . after he sees her enter , the smile on his features becomes impossible to shake . ‘ still cryptic . . . it’s a surprise , ‘ he starts , slowly leading her to the backdoor . rather than responding to her string of guesses , he simply allows his beam to only grow . when they finally step outside , he can feel the breath within his chest halt . truly , elijah had no idea if this was the best way to go about a first date . truly had no idea if she would even want to do what he had planned - considering their options were limited at this point , this was the most creative he could get . it’s not that he cared really as long as he got to spend time with her . he debates on breaking the silence until she brings him in , the smile playing against his lips is now coy as he pulls back . he can physically feel himself breathe again . ‘ do you like it ? ‘ rather than waiting for a response , he takes her hand in his & leads her to sit down next to him . ‘ it was either this or we watched a movie & i’m pretty sure i’ve made you watch every movie i own . ‘ at this point , he’s rambling to himself trying to ease the nervousness he’s been dealing with for the last twenty - four hours . a nervousness strong enough that riddled him with a sleeplessness the night before . elijah finally looks over at her , fingers toying with the wine glass he’s set up , ‘ you look pretty . ‘
