“google is authentic, why else do you think it was created? to just sit there and look pretty? please. do you want me to lie or be honest? i think you would look kind of like a dying flame if you did pink. so can you?”

even though they felt so calm, the confirmation that this was all real caused annie to let out a small breath they didn’t know they were holding. “we’re going to be that clingy couple in everybody’s lives and who cares, i like it,” annie laughs. as someone who highly valued solitude, this never included spending time with sebastian. they could be with him for more time than they were alone and feel more whole than they would have by themselves. “you care about all the right things. anybody or anything that comes back to bite you in the ass is going to get pummeled,” they joke, even though they mean it deep down. “okay but i mean it, i do,” they laugh back, grin wide on their face as their fingers run through the back of sebasitan’s hair with a hand rested on his nape. “what makes me worthy out of all people to be able to see that … i don’t even know. i’m lucky, so fucking lucky to see those parts of you because i’ve never seen that kind of beauty in a person ever before. any person out there could have been the one to let me in, but i’m glad that you were the one,” annie nods, words serious despite the fact that they weren’t even close to containing their smile. “literally how could i say no? it would’ve been funny to see that awkwardness from the outside, but holy shit that would’ve been painful to experience firsthand,” they respond before leaning into the kiss, arms moving to wrap around his neck. their gaze into sebastian’s eyes afterwards is interrupted, a soft giggle escaping their lips as they are unable to help but upturn into a smile as they meet over and over again. “i think it does, absolutely,” they sneak in between kisses, hand moving back to sebastian’s nape. after months of sitting with their feelings and being unsure of how to define exactly what they were with sebastian, confirming that they were in fact dating made their heart warm. “dinner on the balcony? fuck. sebastian jung, you are a true romantic. no awkwardness, we’ve got this. we’re dating now, so that’s a big yes from me,” they respond, adding in the last part just to verbalize it once more.

“i think we were already that clingy couple whether you realized it or not, or whether i did.” he dismisses his own confusion with a simple shrug of his shoulders and a nonchalant huff. it’s humoring, to sebastian, to think that this friendship had blossomed into what it is right before him - someone who brought him joy beyond measurement. the same person who he would sit on their balcony, wrapped in a blanket and leaning into each other with passing laughter and soft glances and then one day it wasn’t just soft glances and loud laugher but looking at each other under a new light. sebastian was scared for weeks once he had understood the tug at his heart weren’t exactly normal - being a feeling that he only felt around them. he could have easily chosen to walk away once annie had raised concern with anger of their own but it was hard to break the hold they had on him and the hold was strong - it came unannounced, much like their connection that had only strengthened over time. “i think you should think about becoming a writer, i think i’m blushing.” he brings a hand up to fan his face in reaction to their kind words that only brought that familiar feeling from months ago, that he liked them and this time he wasn’t going to run - instead he welcomed it. he tucks a strand behind their ears while cradling their face in his hands, his heart thumped rapidly against his chest from the thrill of it - asking, them saying yes; the light breeze from the fountain brought some relief to his, already, feverish skin. “oh thank fuck, i’m officially a taken man.” it felt foreign to say, sebastian jung dating annie duh - it was going to take some time to get used to, as much as the world will express shock, sebasitan will have to get used to their new label as a couple. he leans down again to place another kiss against their lips - soft and gentle as his lips move over theirs before bumping his forehead against theirs, “we’re not doing anything tomorrow besides sleeping in by the way, you don’t be doing much sleeping tonight anyway.” he whispers against their lips, wearing a smirk in its wake before pulling annie against his chest and smiling up at the water shooting into the sky.

the day had gone by in a blur , barely focused enough to do anything besides make sure that what he set out for her would be perfect . maybe it was cliché , cheesy even , but more than a small part of him felt like he had to make up the last four years in one night . it was his way of making sure they were okay even after everything that had happened between them . more so than anything , it would have been a lie for him to say he hadn’t replayed their almosts from when she stayed with him - it was enough to make it nearly impossible to shake the anxiety he felt now . after he sees her enter , the smile on his features becomes impossible to shake . ‘ still cryptic … it’s a surprise , ‘ he starts , slowly leading her to the backdoor . rather than responding to her string of guesses , he simply allows his beam to only grow . when they finally step outside , he can feel the breath within his chest halt . truly , elijah had no idea if this was the best way to go about a first date . truly had no idea if she would even want to do what he had planned - considering their options were limited at this point , this was the most creative he could get . it’s not that he cared really as long as he got to spend time with her . he debates on breaking the silence until she brings him in , the smile playing against his lips is now coy as he pulls back . he can physically feel himself breathe again . ‘ do you like it ? ‘ rather than waiting for a response , he takes her hand in his & leads her to sit down next to him . ‘ it was either this or we watched a movie & i’m pretty sure i’ve made you watch every movie i own . ‘ at this point , he’s rambling to himself trying to ease the nervousness he’s been dealing with for the last twenty - four hours . a nervousness strong enough that riddled him with a sleeplessness the night before . elijah finally looks over at her , fingers toying with the wine glass he’s set up , ‘ you look pretty . ‘

“do i like it?” she repeats, sounding small as she spoke the words aloud. orion brings a hand to her mouth; this entire moment felt surreal. the lengths he went for a backyard date was touching and every factor presented before her expressed his taste evidently. orion was stuck on looking back and forth between the food and the lights - let alone the backyard that stretched miles before her. she was pulled from her daze when he took her hand and led to sit beside him. she looks at him now since he last spoke, “do i like it?” she repeated, posing the question as a tease, “elijah, this is cute - who knew you were such a romantic?” her elbow digs into his side before resting a hand above is, “no but for real, this is cute.” she squeezes his hand, scrunching her nose his way and reaching for a glass, “thank god you didn’t do a movie date, eli - i would have walked out.” she states, “no but really, i would have. how many times can we watch pixar movies and eat popcorn?” she twirls the glass between her fingers as she bubbles up with laughter. “ah,” she sets the glass down briefly, “there it is.” she holds his jaw with a single hand and shakes his head lightly, “do you feel better now?” she turns her face once she drops her hand from his face to look at the cake set up. her cheeks burned at his comment, "i know i do.” she finally says, turning to look at him briefly. her eyes trailed down from his face to the glass his fingers toyed with, “you look handsome,” she leans in to compliment, placing a quick kiss on his cheek, “what kind of cake is this?” orion picks up the wine glass once more to plant it face down in the cake and scoop up a glass full, “let me feed you like they do in those movies that you could have showed me tonight,” orion laughs to herself over her own commentary as she picks up a utensil and goes to feed him but brings it back to herself and eats it instead. she’s bites the inside of her cheek to keep her smile at bay, “sucks to suck, gotta be faster elijah.” she says, licking the frosting off the spoon.
