Wind and Truth. Jesus Christ that was a roller coaster of everything. For starters, I really don’t get why people say it wasn’t that good, it was phenomenal; though I guess the ending left a lot to be desired. Let’s start at the beginning. I was really glad to see Kaladin’s growing relationship with the Kholin couple. It was nice to see him grow from hating all Lighteyes to learning that they aren’t all that bad. I’m also glad to see Szeth’s genuine improvement throughout his pilgrimage and Nale finally getting a hold of himself. Also, loved the Renarin and Rlain romance, glad to see that that had worked out in the end. The founding of the Unoathed absolutely shocked me, did not see that coming in the slightest. Adolin’s last stand with the Unoathed and even his duel with Adbi. I can only imagine the look on his face when he see’s his Shardblade get parried by the candelabra of all things. Now… about the ending… The writing with the ending was amazing don’t get me wrong, I definitely didn’t expect Gav to be Odium’s champion. I get why Danilar didn’t kill him I wouldn’t either. But he still fumbled by renouncing all of Honor’s oaths once he Ascended. I didn’t expect Odium and Honor to combine, as I didn’t think it possible because of how contradictory the two powers on. I also had trouble placing the relative time period of where Hoid respawned, they had gunpowder and skyscrapers but the lady who hired him as a coach driver mentioned something about horses. I hadn’t expected the timeslow bubble around Roshar nor did I expect the Stormfather’s death. I also wonder how Hoid got his hands on a Dawnshard. Assuming the second Dawnshardbearer who met Rysn didn’t leave that makes three Dawnshards on Roshar alone; definitely a plot point for the second arc of TSA. That alongside Shallan and Adolin attempting to reach each other, the Unoathed, and probably Sigzil’s journey offworld, and the interference of other Shards against Retribution. The writing for the book is overall amazingly done, and is by far one of if not the best book of TSA in my opinion. In the meantime I’ll have to figure out what else of Sanderson’s works to read. I was thinking Mistborn but I’m open to suggestions.
